For me all Platinum Bucks Sites are down.

Cant resolve their hostnames. neither from my home nor from my server.

Anyone else?

fusionx 06-15-2004 06:51 AM

Can anyone hit www.lightspeedcash.com? Everything else (that I've tried) is coming up now, albeit slowly.

Looks like a major DNS problem.. shrug..

StatsRemote, PlatinumBucks, SweetMoney and Karupspc all hosted by NationalNet and all are down :( do yahoo and google use NationalNet?

Fabuleux 06-15-2004 06:51 AM

Akamai fucked up some DNS servers, there are no sites down.
Maybe some from National Net...

Nathan 06-15-2004 06:58 AM

Yahoo/Google/MS is probably an akamai issue in some areas.

I love that stupid invention. Why in gods name did people deceide that it would make perfect sense to take the re-routability of the internet away and recreate a great single-point-of-failure by hosting every big site or at least parts of them on the same friggin host?!

I know, they have a shitload of servers around the world, a ton of datacenters and so on, but look what happends...

In the good old days, if one host goes down the rest still work, but no, that is not good enough anymore nowadays.

grumpy 06-15-2004 06:59 AM

all the mojor sites i know are up and running.

hjnet 06-15-2004 07:06 AM

For me everything is up, seems like something is really fucked up in NA.

Akamai DNS problem

Starting at around 8:30 am EDT (12:30 UTC), a number of sources started to report a widespread Akamai DNS issue. Large web sites, which use Akamai for its DNS service, did no longer resolve. Effected sites are Yahoo, Google, Microsoft, Fedex, Xerox, Apple and likely many others.

Typically, the domain itself (e.g. 'google.com') still resolves, but popular hostnames, like 'www.google.com' will not resolve. As a result, the web site is no longer reachable.

The effect appears to be world wide.
