Cheapest place to buy Absinthe in the States?
 

A few of us were kinda wanting to try Absinthe. What is the cheapest place to order from that ships to the US?

Anything you find in the US will be fake.

Can you do it without breaking any laws?

You can do a google search but I'm pretty sure that it, like anythng else that enables a person to have a good time, is a controlled substance.

So, the situation, as I understand it:


1. It is illegal to sell thujone containing absinthe in the US for human consumption.

2. It is illegal for someone outside the US to sell thujone containing absinthe to someone inside the US.

3. It is not illegal to purchase thujone containing absinthe for personal use in the US.

4. It is not illegal to purchase thujone containing absinthe for personal use from outside the United States

5. Thujone containing absinthe can be seized by US customs (if it appears to be for human consumption).

so...it's ok to buy, but not sell

My take on it is that it is OK to purchase ouside of the US and and have it imported.

Unless customs decides that it is not OK and they keep it.

The worst case looks to be that customs will keep it but doesn't look like there would be any legal problems with the attempt unlike getting caught with something like pot or coke.

Then again, I am not a lawyer.

its illegal, its REALLY strong liquor. strongest ive ever drank. i think its 170 proof.

when i had some girls from london visit me i told them to bring some and they brough a bottle over and didnt get caught.

The Absinthe sold over the counter in England, like Hills Absinthe is not the real ting. It do not contain more then 10 mg/l thujon. Original absinthe was 50-200 mg/l thujon. But as the fake is 65 to 75% alcohol you will get drunk, but not intoxicated on thujon.

I know some people that had it sent in from Amsterdam I think. At the time there was a certain way you could package it that customs wouldn't care too much about. I can't exactly remember how it was packaged.

Do a search online and I'm sure you'll find plenty of small sites from Europe that will send it over.

$200 for a bottle of liquor?? Shit. It better do some amazing shit. It better make me want to cut off my ear or something.

It still think you can get the same effect with a couple of pints of Mad Dog fortified wine.

If you look around there are do-it-yourself kits that you can buy and make your own. They're pretty cheap, and you don't have to worry about customs that way.

They sell that shit at the liquor stores here, I was thinking about picking up a bottle. Anyone ever tried it? I don't know if it's the good stuff or not, it's only about $70/bottle so probably not.

I don't think that would give you any of the effects you get from real absinth. The kind at the liquor store just sounds like an expensive imitation is all...
