im not a techie, my brother is asking me for advice.

formatting your HD should solve the problem.
But there has to be an easier way.
look up the virus and see if there is a removal tool for it.

get the name of the virus and run it on Google, you should get a few hits on how to remove it.

I agree, google it and that should point you in the right direction. I format my system once a year to clean it, but I have all backed up. Dont format unless last resort for a virus.

try to remove it without formatting, other format should work unless its a boot sector virus.

But chances are its just some virus to turn you into a email drone.

Unplug your internet !! Fix problem..

They always seem difficult , but they aren't , just walk thru it backwards.. And find info from someone else that has had it. I guarantee you aren't the first person , and i haven't seen a virus in years that couldn't be dissected and removed. ( without format hd )
