Speeding Ticket Experts?

Anybody an expert of speeding tickets (or the fighting there-of)? Someone told me that if you actually show up at court the day thats written, that the ticket is voided if there is mistakes on it....but what sort of mistakes?

There 2 mistakes on a speeding ticket I just got - Postal Code and the make/year of my car. The cop didn't ask for my insurance/registry - he just filled out the ticket and was asking me questions to fill in the blanks...then the idiot filled it out wrong.

Anybody? :helpme

You are canada.

But, I have had a whole lot of speeding tickets, and with some of those mistakes its very possible you`ll get out of it.

My worse ticket was Christmas eve @ 10 PM in my $80k vette, we were cruising at 120 to an airport, and the cop got me, said he had his camaro up to 135 to catch up, but he wrote it off @ 99 mph since it was christmas eve, said he didnt want to take me in. (Anything over 100 mph in california is instant towed + suspended + etc.)

I have had plenty of others for similar things and exhibition of speed, racing, etc. Never lost a race btw.

The guy that ended up buying my car did so after I beat his Porsche 911 GT2

ANY mistake on the ticket,,,now matter how small,,is significant.

If the cop ius wrong abt 1 thing,,,how can he be right about another?

Will that stand up when fighting the ticket?

Anybody with a firm answer on this?

I can live with the fine, it's only 200$ - it's the 7 day suspension that will kill me with an insane insurance hike.

It depends heavily on if you have counsel. An attorney would give a godd argument, but if you are not familiar with the law, the terminology, and the flow of a courtroom and try to use that defense yourself it probably won't help.

There are better ways of getting out of it when using the "officer was mistaked" card. What kind of equipment was he using? Does he/the department have records of the calibration of that equipment? Was the officer required to log that he checked the calibration that day or after he last used the equipmnent? Technicalities are a lot more effective if you use them on the technical fronts, not common mistakes on the ticket itself.

Also, where again are you from, or where did you get the ticket?

Jedimaster 06-13-2004 03:32 PM

can u delay the appearance???

i did that for 3 times,,,,,,and the cop never showed up the 4th time,,,so the judge dismissed the ticket.

PS I had to wait all day b/c my case would be the last since the judge wanted to wait for the cop to show. :thumbsup

Can you take it to the justice of the peace? I always do that and they check the ticket for you to see if there is any mistakes, the only time I had a ticket thrown out was when the cop forgot to put the section # of the high traffic act. Hope this helps

easier said then done, even the most cautious people get speeding tickets. next time have a priests outfit and throw it on over yourself, I've never heard of priests getting a speeding ticket, then again I've never seen a priest drive a corvette so I guess it depends on what you drive :2 cents:

From New Brunswick (Canada) - got it in Nova Scotia (Canada). Was racing to get to the hospital in a city about 2.5 hours away - my father was there with possible angina attacks.

I'll call up some lawyers that deal with this kinda shit, see what I can get. Thanks

I know a thing or two how tog et out of them. If you dont hire an attorney to fight the ticket. My attorney told me before he was my attroney at the time.

Errors dont matter first of all

This is what you do you go to court the day before your ticket expires, and tell them you cant make it in tomorrow and you want to fight it. Then a day before it expires the 2nd time you go back to court the day before and tell them you need to get an extention. If you are really ballsy. Go back the 3rd time and ask for an extention again.

Here in the USA the cops get paid to go to court and they dont show up the ticket gets thrown out. Thats why you need to get new dates the day before the 2-3 times. After the 2nd-3rd time the cop just gives up.

This worked for me a few times in the past.

Good luck.

Oh and if the cop shows the 3rd time and you do lose ask for traffic school. Dont know if it is like that else where sure was in Southern California.

I got 10 tickets in a 8 month period. Had to get an attorney after the 3rd ticket. Got all but one written off.

The judge yelled at the cop to not ever waste his time and the judge fined me 1 dollar. LOL
