Photoshop is the best in my opinion

PS is the best, hands down.

I wouldn't bother wasting any time with anything else.

For sure, I cant see why anyone would use anything else. I use Bryce to render simple 3d stuff, then cut it up in PS.

I use PS to create all my banners but I also use Jasc Animation Shop 3 (comes with Paint Shop Pro) for quick animated banners and buttons....

Am I missing something in PS that does this better?

Photoshop and Fireworks.

FIreworks Compresses Better. I design in PS and then Animate in Fireworks. Works great:thumbsup

you can use ps to make the layout and then switch to fireworks or imageready to animate the banner and optimize it.
