2 British war ships crash into each other while demonstrating their evasive maneuvers
LONDON (Reuters) - Two British warships crashed a few miles (km) off the coast of southern England while showing off manoeuvres to dignitaries, the Ministry of Defence has said.
The frigates HMS Argyll and HMS Kent were carrying out displays about 10 miles from the naval base of Plymouth on Thursday when their hulls scraped against each other.
"There was a minor collision," a spokeswoman said on Saturday.
"It was a Sea Day when they take people on ships to show them what the navy does. There is some minor damage but both ships are seaworthy."
Last year the captain of the destroyer Nottingham was reprimanded after his ship ran aground on rocks near a remote island off Australia.
