If you are on Comcast

They just started monitoring and blocking port 25 on their network.

twistyneck 06-12-2004 01:51 AM

And this means?

Pun 06-12-2004 02:43 AM

Probably means that you can't run your email server from your home network because you can't accept SMTP (mail) traffic which comes through on port 25.

Sounds shitty.. wonder why they did that?

Exactly.

Seems to be more and more ISP's are going this way. BellSouth just did this also.

We just went with Comcast cable; and, so far, our email server isn't blocked.

When did this happen?

SinisterStudios 06-12-2004 09:05 AM

Get the Comcast Pro Package ($95 in NJ) 5 static ip's, 5 megs bandwith and you can run servers, vpn's or whatever else you want. It sure beats having to deal with their bullshit

rdunn404 06-12-2004 11:14 AM

Yep. I could still receive mail but recently had to change my Outlook settings in order to send any out.
