Anyone use Cox cable internet?
Can u just hook up two different computers to two cable outlets? Or do you have to network the comps for them both to have cable internet service?
|

Buy a $40 router at best buy, and say nothing to cox.
They won't know unless they try really hard to find out. do it yourself, though, as cox will fuck you (pun intended). |
yep... router is all you need 3 hooked up here...
It's not cheating the system... a COX tech told me to do it. |
yes router.. just plug it in and gtg
|
just 2 computers you DON't need a router or switch. All you need is both 2 have network cards.
you need a router or switch for more than 2. |

all that its connected to one cable, using cox of course it goes thru 3 switches and 3 cable modems, and each has its own ip... but its still all going to one cable the wireless linksys on top is for the other computers in the house that arent in this pic you need a router... and since its a roommate, I suggest a wireless router, unless you're sharing a bedroom i'm sure you dont want cat5 cable ran allthru the house |
we use Cox here in AZ and we have a router... Linksys 2.4GHZ
