Neighbor just called on the phone: "Your house is on FIRE!"

So I ran outside, and my god.... There's an intense ball of flames coming from the flood lights just under the overhang! The smoke was just billowing out. There was a birds nest up there, and obviously the lights got turned on and set it ablaze.

So I make a sprint for the hose and the neighbor asks if she should call 911. I say "no, just wait!" I go to spray the water, but barely any comes out. There's a kink in the hose somewhere! Oh my, We're going to lose everything if I don't straighten it out. Finally the pressure increases and the fire is out. Now the whole area is black.

So if you see a birds nest on top of an exposed floodlight, don't turn it on.

did you lose your camera in the fire?

where are the pics?

oooh.... scary stuff. That'd freak me out. Flames like that could get out of hand in an instant.

Good thing your neighbor was on the ball on that one, and that you caught it in time.

Oh, the fire is over already. Nice!

Uh, you're supposed to post about this kind of stuff before you take action. You're post should have said:

"My neighbor just called and said my house was on fire. What should I do?"

Then we'd give answers ranging from "put it out" to "get some marshmallows."

That's the GFY way. :thumbsup

I hope they had insurance! Rebuilding a nest is not cheap these days.

man that's too funny I had the exact same thing happen to me about 6 months ago.. The kid arcoss the street was banging on my door at around 12 am one night. I answered the door he like dude you know your house is on fire..

Turns out it was a big oak tree in the back yard that power lines were going through. They kept arcing and caching the tree on fire. It ended up blowing the power transformer which was in my backyard. Pretty much while we were standing next to it, scared the shit out of us. Ended up having FPL guys cutting down tree limbs and fixing that shit until about 6am.

i stopped at a service station today in a tiny town, they had yellow tape around 4 pump and shell of 30 ft plus motor home.

burned to a crisp, that must have been one hell of a fire.

wonder what a motor home that size cost?
