It's hard to say.... a movie that freaked me out when I was 10 doesn't freak me out now.

Not just because I'm older, but because I watch it now going "jeeze, can it look any more fake?"

Take The Ring for example... had one scary moment in it, and some people say that it wasn't all that scary either. However, if that movie was released in 1980.... it would have given people heart attacks.

dennisthemenace 06-11-2004 05:23 PM

Fahrenheit 9/11 maybe..

Thats right, that was one fucked show. Definately scary shit.

Kingdom of the Spiders

was a creature flick on KSTW11 in the Sunday afternoons. For years I was terrified of spiders because of that movie.

Serpent and the Rainbow

made me afraid of being buried alive.

Pet Semetary

made me freaked about things hiding under my bed (the kid with the scalpel slices the old man's ankle, remember?)

And Poltergeist

simply scarred me for life.

debbieN 06-11-2004 07:56 PM

when I was young, creature feature always had some cool scary stuff.

13 Ghosts (the original)
others that I can not remember the names. I hid behind the couch most of the time.

During my teens - Exorcist, Jaws (I did not realize it was horror at the time), Pyscho, the mummy.

Later - aliens freaked my shit out!!! goooood movie.

Lately - the ring was pretty good, they, cabin fever, 28 days.

Yes, they are the same movie but with different names. The Beyond is also being sold as The Seven Doors of Death. Be careful when Lucio Fulci shopping.

u sure?? shit now you just made me go dig shit up :helpme

LadyMischief 06-11-2004 08:11 PM

Wishmaster was decent.. It think one of the coolest horror genre movies though was Wes Craven's New Nightmare... it just took the whole freddie series and expounded on it. Heather Langenkamp is pretty hot, too.

I thought Outbreak was a scary movie, because it's more likely to happen than most horror movies. Signs was pretty creepy too. Not really scary I guess, but it kind of creeped me out more than movies usually do. I grew up watching horror movies and reading Stephen King, Robert R. McCammon, Dean R. Koontz, John Saul, etc. It's pretty hard to find movies or books that freak me out or affect me at all aside from amusement anymore.

stephanie m. 06-11-2004 08:24 PM

Jaws and The Stand for me.

95% sure. These movies have been packaged and repackaged *tons* of times with different names. But yes, I'm pretty sure on that.
