I used to know a guy that had his shotgun aimed just bit wrong when he pulled the trigger. It took off his face, his lower jaw and tongue, and put him in a nursing home for life. He had put the barrel of the shotgun under his chin and as it turns out, that doesn't always kill you. Far better just to put it right between your eyes or to your temple. Too late for him but hopefully this bit of information can save someone else from 50 years of suffering.
