Does spelling mistakes turn you off (a product)

I just reviewed a site about DRM solutions. Listen to the first paragraph:

Quote:

*Edited out* spalizes in providing content owners the ability to make money...
What are you doing again? Spalizing?

I closed the page. If they're not serious about their own presentation, I bet their product is even worse.

Johny Traffic 06-11-2004 04:33 AM

yes it does,

steve90 06-11-2004 04:34 AM

Yes, it makes them look unprofessional.

KraZ 06-11-2004 04:38 AM

I must admit I had a few spelling mistakes on my site but at least I hit F7 (Spell Check) on each page. "Spalize" isn't a verb you can get from a dictionary so it's pretty easy to avoid.

Maybe I'll alert them to the mistake in an email ... I'll feel good for days on end :)

SS396chevelleSS 06-11-2004 04:43 AM

Yes, if I see misspelling I dont trust the place I might have bought from

pradaboy 06-11-2004 04:56 AM

OzMan, your right, man! I did it on purpose (the your instead of you're) just to piss you off. You can talk whichever way you want on a forum (no spell checker too lol). A presentation is a whole different story, right?

Btw, if you have the time - check www.nichefetish.com. If you find 3 mistakes, I'll send you a free exclusive set (50 pics or so) with license, etc. I'll be happy to correct them too :thumbsup

Oh, either post them here or send them to [email protected]

bhutocracy 06-11-2004 05:03 AM

yes... if i wanted a product produced by illiterates i'd ask for extra fries.

JBdeB 06-11-2004 05:43 AM

here is the first line I read on your site !

"Our teen and fetish models are 100% fresh - most have have their first time with us. "

spot the mistake ?

LadyMischief 06-11-2004 05:45 AM

Yes! And surfers see this in paysite tours and whatnot too.. I'm amazed people don't proof-read more often. I bet they lose a lot of sales due to spelling errors and bad grammar.. I guess most people figure if you can't even correct your language, you are probably from a country that will cheat them. Ask some surfers and find out what they have to say about it. You would be amazed

Groove 06-11-2004 05:46 AM

Yes.

Same opinion here!

AnalProbe 06-11-2004 06:00 AM

You can't trust them to handle your stuff well.

If I need info, I don't give a shit if I see mistakes, as I am not bound to the people who wrote it.

If you're talking business and enter a relationship, it counts.

mardigras 06-11-2004 06:06 AM

I alerted a webmaster just yesterday about a serious spelling error on his site and he informed me he "didn't give a fuck".

He was promoting his webmaster program and no, I didn't sign up even though it was a niche I need.

Doctor Dre 06-11-2004 06:29 AM

Definitly even if I dont notice them most of the time ... I always get somebody to double - triple check my work when I publish something

scoreman 06-11-2004 06:30 AM

You can produce the next "War and Peace", but let there be a blatant typo right on the cover and alot of people's first and only reaction will be "Piece of shit".

Tim 06-11-2004 06:47 AM

Yes -agreed. A real turn off.

sweet7 06-11-2004 07:33 AM

how hard is it to hit the spell check?

kmanrox 06-11-2004 07:35 AM

Ei egree that spellin erors suckk.

Tam 06-11-2004 07:49 AM

I can handle a typo here and there, but they are just that, typos...... but it does jump in my face like a damn truck when I see them and takes a lot of the focus off the product I am looking at. There is a difference in typos and spelling something just all wrong and you can usually tell the difference, but still, they should spell check their work.

I have even caught typos on my own sites, and no matter what I am doing, I run and fix it...... so sometimes they do slip by us, but the plain old fashions spelling errors really drive me nuts. LOL

Sure, thanks :) 2 more and you get a set. Btw, not to sound apologetic or anything, but the above line was from the latest update - damn, I should've asked a friend or two to read the stuff :(

49thParallel 06-11-2004 08:35 AM

OK, you asked, and so you shall recieve:

1) We don't do content blow-outs so your custom content will retain its uniqueness and high value.

There should be a comma after blow-outs.

Hmmm...to be honest, I didn't find anything else. Overall, your copywriting is good.

Jace 06-11-2004 08:37 AM

i will not promote anything with a spelling mistake in it....who knows what other "mistakes" there are in the program

samuel 06-11-2004 08:38 AM

yez iht doess...

:1orglaugh

samuel

PrivateIvy 06-11-2004 08:39 AM

yes, as do grammar and punctuation

such as:
" Does spelling mistakes turn you off (a product) "

should be

"Do spelling mistakes turn you off (a product) "

Ivy

Thanks, remember you need to find 3 in order to get an exclusive set from me :) English is not my native but I do fine most of the time. When I'm not under pressure (like writing a title for my GFY thread, thanks Ivy).

VegasSEGirl 06-11-2004 09:15 AM

To me, it depends on if they are English speaking or not. If they speak a different language and can't get English grammar perfecly right, I don't hold that against them. If it's just an ignorant English speaking person, that irritates the hell out of me. There's no excuse to be ignorant.
