Bye Bye Blair...

Blair's Labour Party Suffers Local Election Losses (Update3)
June 11 (Bloomberg) -- U.K. Prime Minister Tony Blair's Labour Party suffered losses in local elections and may win less than a third of council seats nationwide, a defeat he blamed on opposition to Britain's role in the Iraq war.

After 2,120 out of 6,117 seats were declared, Labour had a net loss of 211 seats, the British Broadcasting Corp. said. This gave it a projected national election vote of 26 percent, putting the party in third place for the first time, according to BBC calculations.

seemes like the US will lose another partner country soon..:2 cents:

doesnt meen shit, any party in power allways loose the inbetween local elections, been that way since time began. General elections are a different thing. The fact that the losses where so small means that Labour will allmost definatly win the next election.

England needs a PM that will actually pull his finger out of his arse and do something about the good friday agreement. Blair seemed promising. Can only imagine he has his very own Humphrey Appleby telling him not to concede to the taigs.

djhits 06-11-2004 06:46 AM

blair wont lose, there isnt really many parties who could challenge labour.

i doubt conservative will be voted back in for a while

liberal democrats are gaining popularity but still they are nowhere near the power of labour

SNP is still small and will get very few votes in england.

but labour have done so many great things for the uk, they brought them back from the hell hole that was conservatives.

and even though blair has had a bad year i still cant see anyone taking over his party.
