What should he/she know?

I went to one today and he didn't know much about TAX laws but he was an incorp lawyer. bottem line 15 years exp 175 an hr.

Its always a judgement call. I just would explain what I do and ask what can you do for me? If I believe his answers then I would choose him.

well if he/she does not represent many people in adult in a similair business your in RUN as far as you can.

Ask him what the laws are regarding the sale of sigs and short ICQs.

Sorry, KMR. I have no idea. Once they get all specialized like that, I'm in over my head. Maybe find a law forum online or a FAQ that could tell you what kind of lawyer does what?

If you want business advise to where to put your money hire a CPA, cheaper and they know the ins and outs about tax laws.

Good advice, ask the lawyer for past experiences (without naming his clients' names) and how they relate to your business. There's no point hiring a lawyer so you can teach him how your industry works. Go with someone who has a good reputation (ask other similiar businesses who they've used) and a solid education always goes a long way.
