Text vs Banner Links, which are better?
 

I have a question, anyone analyzed their stats and saw if text links were better than banner links or vs versa? Or do the combo of a banner with a text link over/under it do better?

I have been seeing more clickthroughs on text links, but not very many conversions.

I'm really not converting much at all, and I feel like beating my head against a wall.... why don't these people just sign up already?

I think it believes on what site you are trying to sell. A text link selling a story site works well. A banner works well on extreme fetish site. A combo of the two works well on everything in between. I think the best banner/text is the ones that has the featured gallery model with text saying something like "Carry your ass to my site for more of my hot body."

Of course, like everything, there are exceptions. A good creative text link by itself can lure people to the site. If I put "I just turned 18 & my friends took nude pics of me" works better than "barely legel teens here".

How to convert the traffic is a different matter but it works well with clicks.

I've stopped using banners altogether. I found that they were just a waste of space as so many people have learned to tune out banners. But I still think graphics are important to go along with text links. That's why I use the logo from the site I'm promoting in place of a banner.

I keep wondering what I'm doing wrong when I don't see signups. Thanks. I've been trying different things, text only, text and banners, banners only. I'd stand on my head if that would get them to sign up. LOL.

I have been using banners, text links alone and banners and text links combined to see what works best. I have found that text links get the most clicks but unless the text is descriptive of what the surfer will find the conversion sucks. However, if the text tells it like it is the click throughs are far less but the conversion ratio is much higher. Text/banner combinations don't appear to do much better than just banners alone. Niche sites promoted using text convert best.

text links are still one of the best ways to get more descriptive about the site you are promoting...

But over use of text links defeets the purpose...

Banners seem to making a come back, to some extent... but usally combo is what works best with all...

Text is VERY Important even with banners, but I tend to just use textlinks alone, because it tends to pull more surfers in...

Text rocks, if it's short and catchy, but I like some banners to spruce up the pages a bit.
