Major hard drive crash/skipped San Diego
Well, I had everything booked for San Diego and a day before my flight I had a major hard drive crash, I ended up spending much time trying to boot it but my system didn't recognize the drive which was actually brand new. Unfortunately I had much of my data on it including customer database, work files and the trip information.
I ended up cancelling my trip altogether and now I have to cough up the $1k+ for data recovery as well as $600 for a more robust backup system that I will have to spend some time installing. If you were hoping to meet in San Diego, sorry I'm not sipping drinks by the ocean with you, instead sweating my ass off under my desk. Customers that I am currently working projects for, I appreciate your patience and understanding, I am on top of this problem and will be corrected and my system improved shortly. Waaah! |
Always something to spoil the fun.. hope you can square things out soon. :)

damn man sorry to hear that...I was wondering why I hadn't seen you online in a few days just figured you were already there...LOL
Good luck man. |
Well I managed to restore some of my data, like customer database and some other stuff, but lost quite a bit of templates and such. I had made CD backups but not for some time and this was a brand new harddrive, I just bought it about 2 months ago.
In any case first thing I did I invested in a separate 200GB HD automatic backup system as well as a DVD burner, so I'm not going through this nightmare again hopefully. I sent my damaged HD to a data recovery firm, but they want an arm and a leg for their service so I am debating whether or not it's worth it. Sucks that I missed San Diego though, I was quite excited about going.. |
Thats a bummer Ironhorse. :(
