Taiyo Yuden or Mitsui (NOT Mitsumi).

You get what you pay for.

AnalProbe 06-10-2004 05:27 AM

Verbatim all the way.

:thumbsup When looking at your cd spindle lables... if it's made in Japan, it should be Taiyo Yuden (cdr manufacturer name). If it's made in Taiwan... it's crappy cdrs ;-)

You guys who are just buying the brand of cdrs, could be getting hosed ;-) ie TDK, Sony, whatever... if it's made in Taiwan it's crap. If it's made in Japan then :thumbsup

My bro bought some really cheap ones, I think they only cost abotu 30% of what the others were. The funny thing is that only about 30% actually worked. I guess atleast he got some free coasters.

Do not buy cheap brand CDRs -- in a year or two they will deteriorate without your help, even sitting in a CD booklet they can become damaged. I don't know howto to explain this, but I've noticed this over the past few years with a lot of cheap ass CDRs that seemed to deteriorate within a 6months-1year of me burning them. However, if you are for some reason just burning temporary stuff, go with cheap generic brand and save some coin.

There's been talk for a while that the black-bottom CDRs are longer lasting than the default silver-bottom CDRs. For the past 6 months or so I've been using Memorex Black. Seems to be working good so far. And DVD discs are apparently even better. Anyone know if there is any truth to this?

:2 cents:
