Yes...but a different type than genital herpes, although still transmittable as genital herpes if coming into contact with them.

A good friend of mine, who's a doctor, says the very first thing he does with a woman is go down on her, so he can subtly check her out. The bad thing is Herpes and HPV are *arguably* transmittable even without any signs showing (there appears to be an ongoing debate about that, though).

As stated above, cold sores are a type of herpes. But you can have cold sores on your mouth without your genitals being infected.
