Photoshop/Galley users, am I missing a setting somewhere when cropping for thumbs?

Isn't there a way to select a pre-set sized marquee for cropping thumbs?

Example, full size pics is 1600 x 1200, crop out subject area, resize image to width=150.... If you constrain proportions, the height could be 50 or if could be 200, etc. If you don't constrain proportions you get the squeeeeeeeeezed pic look.

How do I just create a marquee or crop setting that is consistent every time?

Thanks,
Bill

Just did a search, and although it is mentioned as being possible in Photoshop, no one explained how to actually do it.

All I need to know is how to creat a 100 x 150 pixel marquee or crop frame, place it over the area I want to use and hit the checkmark button.... This has to be possible.

this one will require using an option on the marquee tool that'll set a fixed size on the selection and photoshop's action tool.

...or u can use arles just to produce the thumbs :2 cents:

If you are just looking to maintain the sizes once it's cropped simply look up top of the screen once you have selected the crop tool. You should see 2 boxes. One for "H" and one for "W". If you are making thumbs that are 120x160 simply enter that into the 2 boxes. Once you make the crop and resize, you will have a correctly sized thumb with correct proportions.

Or just hire me to do it...

Not exactly sure about your question, but sounds like you want to crop at a given aspect ratio each time. For example, you are starting out with 1600x1200, which is 4x3. If you want to keep this (or change it), just do what nick said, but instead of using pixels use inches and put in 4 and 3 (or whatever ratio you want). This will allow you to size the crop up or down but only at that certain ratio. That what you wanted?

I forgot to tell ya, when you use inches the final cropped size will depend on the image resolution. Just set it at a high value and it will work the way you want. If your thumbs will be 150x120 set it at 15x12, if they will be 150x100 set it at 15x10 etc.
