Whats Really Good? A Good Thread About Yearly Incomes In This Industry...

I had a conversation with a webmaster today, and I stated to him how overall considering that signed up for my first affiliate program at the age of 14 in an effort to get $140 for a new pair of Jordan sneakers, I'm happy to have the light workload I have now of 3 hours MAX daily work and get $50,000 a year

He replied to me that $50,000 isn't really good...
and that $250,000 in this industry should be considered good..

Maybe I see things wrong..
but I think $50,000 for part time job
is whats really good

I go to Mcdonalds and get a smiling face the same age as mine (21) handing me my extra value meal..

and then I think about how I left the house and had 4 sales already.....

at $40 a sale, I've already quadrupled their pay for the day

I for one can't look at 50 G's as nothing....
when there are people with degrees making less
and policemen and firefighters putting their lives on the line for half in some places.

Not to mention our underpaid military that are coming home in body bags....

Just a thought....

I thank God for the opportunity...
I'm investing in me, I'm going for my Masters Degree in my major

I can never look at this as chump change

so what you are saying is that at 14 you were pushing porn sites........ interesting

CDSmith 06-09-2004 09:52 PM

At 14 I had playboys and penthouses under my bed.

At 15 my mom found them, and boy was she pissed.

Read closely...

signed up for my first affiliate program at the age of 14 in an effort to get $140 for a new pair of Jordan sneakers

affliate program means
Affiliate Program

doesn't necessarily have to mean adult

Global Dialers 06-09-2004 09:54 PM

in that case please post a link to a mainstream affiliate program that was around 7 years ago that paid $40 per signup :)

i was just sitting here watching the offers pour in in tranzas thread - what peopel would give him for $25
and i was thinking how it must suck if you live in a country that has no unemployment

$50k a year is nothing to sneeze at
of course dont limit yourself keep working up :thumbsup

Hehehe I posted there because I am mad at my designer and wanted to make him do more work.

xuron 06-09-2004 09:57 PM

Your just justifying 50k/year to make yourself feel better about it by comparing down... The other guy was comparing up... ;-)

Right...
I always have a "hunger for more" attitude..
simply put $50,000 in because thats what we were talking about

I really don't understand how somebody in this industry can act like $50,000 is BAD

when a majority of people in the brick and mortar world of business bust their ASSES for far less

buddyjuf 06-09-2004 09:59 PM

I have been making money on the net since I was like 11 years old

never had a "real job" in my life

we can all brag ya know :Graucho

It's not a feel better or feel worse situation..
I feel good everyday, knowing I can work when I want to

Not having a boss, not following anybody elses orders..
and have time for family and too many friends

It's just about a conversation in which I hear somebody say..
$50,000 isn't a decent amount of money knowing HOW HARD people work for less (police, firefighters, teachers)

my business partner told me a story a few months ago that stuck with me about one of his friends who was buying a several million dollar property from a real estate agent. The agent said to him "Carpark isn't included but what's $20k when you are spending this much". He walked out and never bought the place ... he told the guy that if he let people disrespect amounts of $20k like that, he wouldn't be in a position to buy the property in the first place.

Earning $50k when you are 21 is good - and anyone who tells you any different will eventually have to learn to live on a lot less.

Some days I wish I could return to my $50k a year day job, less stress, less difficult ... & less satisfaction ... but when you are young and get greedy, and want the world before you can handle it, $50k really isn't much ... hopefully those people learn their lessons easier than I did!

reynold 06-09-2004 11:29 PM

That's just nice. You're only 21 and proud of what you're doing. Keep it up!

cool1g 06-10-2004 12:07 AM

hey - work 6 hours a day, make $100K per year, start buying some real estate and you could be done by the time you are 25-30! :thumbsup

Well, there will always be people who earn less and people who earn more than you. I guess what you should ask yourself is do you make enough money to sustain the lifestyle you are comfortable with and are you happy with the workload that comes with it. Asking that myself I have to answer: YES, YES, and YES!

Trax 04-30-2005 05:28 AM

is that 50k before or after taxes :)

MaDalton 04-30-2005 05:32 AM

i had years when i had way more than $50K - and i had years when I had way less. and you wouldn't have noticed any change in my behaviour. and even if i had $500K a year i wouldn't change. i don't wear any golden rings, i don't have 20" chrome rims and my 10 year old TV still works like a charm so that i don't need to buy any plasma blablabla...

all this pimp style behaviour of 20 year old kids makes me sick - but on the other hand i know what my abilities are and what i have learnt/studied. whenever this business explodes i can still work in so many different mainstream jobs that I would never have to worry about my future.

hope everyone can say the same.

$50k is nice for now bro well done, but its always good to set your sights higher. Aim for the stars and you will probably land on the moon. Aim for the moon and you might land in the ocean :) But either way enjoy the ride, cause the ride is what counts.
