SE Gurus

I'm trying to move one of my sites behind a warning page on index.html.. currently the index.html gets a decent amount of Search traffic. I've set up a internal page which is identical to the main page, In an attempt to let the search engines find it.

Now how is the best way to do this with out losing my search positions on all the different search engines? Is there a good way to do this?

don't ever change the html on that page. or else it will fall.

ok, is there a way to set it up so I can have a warning page ?

I posted the main page was index.html when in reality it's index.shtml

could I set the server up to send direct requests to index.html and leave the index.shtml the way it is and turn it into an internal page?

Do you mean you want a warning page to appear before anyone hits your actual site or you just want to protect the first entry page?

no it's a TGP site and I trade traffic, so incoming hits from other TGPs I want to go directly to the pages with content.. However I'd like to send direct requests in via a warning page. Just to somewhat try to cover my own ass and to at least make some attempt to stop kids from coming across the site by mistake.

I did have an index.html page set up at one time, but it was a mirror of the .shtml page. There is now nothing on the index.html and it still has a google PR4. So I'd like to set up my server to point to the index.html for direct requests but not affect my SE traffic that is going to index.shtml. (right now direct requests go to the index.shtml.
