cable modem network

Just got comcast high speed internet

Anyone with comcast high speed internet using it on more than one computer in a small "network" ???

How's you do it . . .
With a broadband router??

From what i understand when you install their software on your pc it tracks the "mac" number of your network card so you can't do more than that one pc on their high speed internet connection.

Does doing that first install with a broadband router make it easy to then use other pc's with that one connection??

any details on what you used would be appreciated.

Thanks

Whats funny about those LinkSys DSL routers is that you can (or used to be able to) change the MAC address on the WAN port to match what your PC is.

You said you had to install their software.....why?
I didn't have to install any software. What is their software for....tracking you? if so, that would suck. Besides, you paid for access. Why should they be able to dictate how you use it as long as you pay your bill every month?

I use linksys router plus an 8 port hub.. Got all my machines on the same cable modem.. no worries.
