u get what ur pay for, cheap and fast is probably shit :) lol, designers i know have atleast 1 to 2 weeks before they can even start designing :)

I got 14 working for me right now and 2 that are in training (wich is almost done ... 10-15 more flyers and they will be good for fulltime) .

If you want to get good quality services, you MUST give them time to get inspiration ... thats the only way . You can't pop good ideas out of your head every 10 minutes ...

My best one, Jayson, can take 2-3 hours sometimes just looking at picturse to feal what he wants to do ...

the problem is when someone hits up a designers they think they are THE ONLY CLIENT ON THE PLANET.

I talk to about 10 different clients a day, sometimes even more. While I love to give attention to those4 I do business with exactly, they think they can hit me with an idea, and boom im supposed to just sit down like a machine and start hammering it out

gimme some time to form some creative input ya know, i work hours after hours doing design crap, im only human.

and for people like me WHO DO NOT OUTSOURCE any work, its even tougher.

pfff you can get whatever you want, but you need luck and patience

also...I think most good designers here will do whatever they can to meet a rush job of a client and be happy to do it but some days I do wonder why no one seems to think about when they will need their banners instead of hitting us up with they needed them yesterday. Still happy to fit people in if we can and the quality is always the same. Just think sometimes people need to play a head a bit.

I don't get this either. My best clients and the ones I love to work with just give us their order and then just let us work on it..one client even stresses that I should take weekends off so I'll be refreshed and not just banging out shit right and left to meet some time demand.

Sure it's important that we get the job done in a timely fashion but there's a big difference between that and rushing it.

Our main focus is galleries and after building 20+ in a day pretty soon the text just starts looking like this:

I don't outsource ... it's all in house . But me and mario can't design .. we don't have time too . It's all about management now .

If I were a designer, I think I'd only take couple big clients and let the small one deal with small designers ... I feal your pain .

I've been hitting a gold mine lately with 2 new really big clietns that gave me a list of 30 + orders each ... Really make life simple :)

I would have to agree on the smaller orders. I love them all they are what helped me build my business, but usually these orders are some of the most difficult to deal with.

They don't understand that because they order 1 gallery today that doesn't mean there weren't 100 galleries before them.

It's also easier when you're working on a large order of 30+ galleries for 1 site to find a general theme and expand on that instead of building 30 galleries for 30 different sites.

However gallery biz is a fickle biz so it's hard to turn down anyone.

I've had 2-3k $ orders ... sometimes 10k $ + orders ...

and the only 2 customers that gave me shit on boards were for 60 $ and 130 $ (wich I totally understand but it wasn't my fault ... If they just email me and ask for refound ... 130 $ ? ok ...)

I dunno I'm not even sure about wanting to deal with orders under 500 $ in the future. Most of the time you have to talk a month give tips etc to get it done .

Big customers know what they want OR just let us handle it .

I have had someone order 1 fucking gallery. 25$ and stretch it out over a 1 week with multiple changes and shit.

Ive had 100+ gallery orders that go in the range of 2-3k and not a fucking problem, NO CHANGES and they didnt even have to ask questions. they send me project details zips of content and lay it down.

but some guy with 1 gallery literally takes up time every day for 1 week for 25 bucks?

I dunno ... honestly when I buy something, most the time I do give a shit about how it gets done ... but I'm always ready to pay the price .

I love those guys who come to me and ask for a price for 1 (one) single banner. Those are mostly a pain in the ass and I hardly ever do those jobs anymore. Not worth the time and the money :thumbsup
