K I understand poor guy die and such. But do we need to spread this out for days? Evry news channel is all I hear and such.

Enough already.

Yeah, I hate it when some celebrity or political figure dies. It's a guaranteee that the media will go on and on about it. It really gets on my nerves.

Well it hasn't even started yet. Coverage will intensify when the body flys back to Washington to lie in state and all the networks will abandon regular programming to cover the state funeral Friday.

and to think Reagans time would have come almost 23 years ago if John Hinckley Jr. had successfully assassinated him. And Hinckley was found not guilty by reason of insanity.

He wasn't my favorite president by a long shot, but from a historical standpoint, this is a big thing. There hasn't been a state funeral in the US in 31 years, since Johnson died. Nixon was buried privately.

I remember that day very well, I was in 4th grade and went back to school fo something and told my teacher who in turn said I was lying, so I made her put the TV on. My mom came back up to the school and went off on that teacher.

The guy was our president for 12 years - love him, hate him, be completely indifferent .. the fact that he led our country for 12 years ... and not too badly to boot (compare/contrast the the present pres) and i think he warrents his week of coverage.

What would the right wing media rather talk about? A dead President they can romanticize with no criticism or all of Bush's failing policies?

It's funny how they're talking about Reagan like he was a good President, trying to make it sound like he was responsible for the collapse of the soviet union. What a fucking joke, all I remember about Reagan is:

-Iraq/Contra, trading arms to Iranian terrorists for hostages.

-Arming and training Bin Laden, then calling him a "freedom fighter" and comparing him to the United State's founding fathers.

-Arming Saddam Hussein with chemical and biological weapons.

-Killing 100,000 people in El Salvador in an illegal war while lying about it.

-People in his administration being charged with all kinds of crimes including conspiracy, and then being pardoned by Bush 1 after Clinton kicked his ass in 92.

-Single handedly creating the homeless problem in the US and then claiming that there was no homeless problem. He actually said things like "they're homeless by choice" and "they take the change from their foodstamps to by Vodka". Well they said that 2nd one until they found out that most change people can get from food stamps is 99 cents.

-If he hadn't turned a blind eye on aids it wouldn't be the epidemic it is today.

Actually I could go on all day but this is just making me furious. Remember when the US actually had a media? Now they all just read white house and pentagon press briefings and call it news.

Im watching some NBC morning show and now some group is calling for Reagans head to be on the $20 bill (the most widely distributed currency) or in place of JFK head on the coin

I read it..It was an enjoyable read..better than any of the re used crap in the media
