Why the fuk are people waiting 10 hours in line to see Reagan's dead body?
:helpme
|
don't ask me, I am just confused...it's not like they all knew him personally. it's a casket... you can grieve and pay your respects just as easily from your own home.
|
You don't ge to actually see his body, only a closed coffin. But it's all about being a part of history in the making mate:)

Truth be known, its good for the Republicans, which is why they're going all out. Bush even authorized Air Force One to be used. Another waste of money when he could have been flown for way less even on a private charter. Call me cheap, but I'm just so sick of the way these politicians spend our money so flagrantly without any regard for good money management. |

It's called respect.
People have been honoring their dead leaders since time began. It's amazing that the pretenders here don't understand even that. |

We'll see if they do the same for Clinton ;)

Let's be real here. OK, he was a two term ex-President, although I didn't vote for him either time. He left no lasting legacy in the White House other than the fact he was quick witted, had a hard on for the former Soviet Union during the Cold War era and almost got assassinated by that Jodie Foster obsessed moron John Hinkley.
He was a freakin' actor, for Chissakes, who went from being president of the Screen Actor's Guild to Governor of California to President of the United States. Come to think of it, isn't there another actor who is Governor of California.:winkwink: He was also 93 so it's not like he died suddenly. Let's pay our respects and get on with it. It's not like JFK just got assassinated. |
I agree with 12clicks on this one. Its respect for a leader. Sure it may be a bit excessive but this is how it is.

He was a public servant for a long time who did a lot of good things during that service that the entrenched Dems fought him tooth and nail over. He's easily the greatest president of my lifetime. He deserves respect. |
People want to be shure he is dead.

he didn't leave a legacy? he came into power in a shitty economic environment and all he did was pull america out of it and set the country up for bush and clinton who followed. what does being an actor have anything to do with him being president? lawyers and doctors don't do much of a good job running countries anyways. |

Saw that on the news! I would not wait that long in line for anything. All you do is walk by for less than a minute. People are crazy.

I would consider going if you could actually see his corpse. His body probably isn't even in that casket.

Iran Contra, boo fucking hoo for Reagan.

State funerals like this have been done for pretty much every president (sans Nixon in recent times). I guess because it's been 30 years since the last one, a large majority of Americans have forgotten or never experienced it and subsequently question it.
Heck.. I'd rather watch this then more about Iraq. |
the same reason why someone would wait 20mins to see mine... :thumbsup

Ahh it's called paying respect. He did a lot for this country. Alo tof Vet's went because of what he did for the POW's etc.
Also they said arnold schwarzenegger waited in line with everyone else to pay his respects... Thought that was kind of strange, but respectful, that he waited.. |

The kids on the streets thank Reagan for their misery. Still much better in Cuba, but Bush is planning to fuck up Cuba too. They must have WMD or terrorist connections? What a danger Cuba is.... |
maybe out of curiousity or plain admiration to the man. he happens to be their ex-president:Graucho :Graucho
