How can I get my site to load faster???
 

Hey I've got a site called MP3 Unsigned Artists.com, but the trouble is, its taking years to load..............my host is FREE, but maybe I should get a REAL host. I own the domain name..I just redirect it to the site.

Also, where can I get a "loading please wait" script?

ANY TIPS TO GET THE PAGE TO LOAD FASTER?

haha, a "loading please wait" script is just going to make it slower. Try switching free hosts as with mydomain.com, you can redirect your domain anywhere you want.

when shit is slow on my comp, i do a disk defrag and scan disk and delete download crap i dont need or use...speeds my comp up alot! http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/smile.gif

You could compress all you images.

defining the height and width gives the "appearance" of a fast loading page.

I heard that if you build your site with tables and shit like that, it loads much faster!

Use Ulead Smart Saver Pro for ALL Images, the compression is much better than a Photoshop file.

If you have several pages that will load when the surfers navigate through it, you can preload images by shrinking them to 1x1 pixel somewhere on the bottom of your first page. they load when the upper part is done while the surfer is still looking arround on this side. When he enters the next page, the images are allready in the browsers cache.

There are only two ways to speed load time.

1. Builder a smaller page. Greater compression and simplier html.

and/or

2. Get a faster host.

My guess is your problem is #2.

I've now moved my site to another free host called Stormpages.com

It loads really fast and seems a good host.

Of course, I will move to a better host which I have to pay for later on (when my credit card bill is paid! hehe!)

Also Ive built my pages smaller, by splitting all the info to separate pages which sppeds it up even more!
