That's an ancient (from India I believe) treatment for clearing sinuses. Warm water, often with some herbs and salt, flow gently in and clean out all the gunk. Not much different in principal from many sprays you see in the store today.

I try to do it daily whether or not I have sinus/flu etc but not quite like the pic. :)

Put warm slightly salted water in a cup and suck it up your nose several times. It wakes you up and you will feel like you just went swimming in the ocean. :winkwink:

It takes practise and at first it will just run out your nose and that is fine. When you get good at it, it will come out your mouth, clearing out all the gunk in your nasal passages.

Warning, don't suck too hard or a little water may go in your lungs forcing you to choke/cough. :)

I'm sure it works wonderfully, but everytime I see someone putting something up their nose (that or nose sprays), my eyes start to water.
