Adkins Diet does work!

I started when I got back from Cancun in March, so far have lost 32pds (no exercise other then ice hockey once a week)

Just wanted to let others know you can lose weight and not exercise.

wvuatl 06-07-2004 09:41 PM

there are some good low carb foods and some real shitty ones... my wife just made low carb pasta... YUCK!

the bread doesnt taste that bad...

but that diet works great for sure... still need to work out a bit though to keep tight

that SPLENDA stuff is going to be HUGE... bet it replaces sugar in most foods

That diet is not balanced or healthy at all - 10 years from now people will look back at this craze as just another retarded scam.

Spunky 06-07-2004 10:08 PM

Yea and the dude who invented it died from glogged arteries...too risky

Did you cheat at all, and do you still drink sodas. It works for me too, but I tend to cheat so it slows down the process.

But 32 pds is great, congrats. :thumbsup

I think I need to start it again today and lose this gut of mine, its getting out of control.:thumbsup

it would make sense to do research before you spread another rumor... the guy died from being hit from a truck...

you don't have to eat fat... you can eat healthy meats like fish, and chicken... doesn't say you have to gorge on burgers and cheese :)

Congrats to you for losing the weight!! My hubby lost 40 pounds.... and I lost 5, and never felt healthier or more energetic in my life...

You must have a bodyfat over 20% by the way you are saying things

Faith69 06-07-2004 10:18 PM

some recipes/foods that are awesome on the diet:

Turnip French Fries... recipe is in the atkins book... these dipped in ketchup taste pretty damn near close to potatos :)

Curried Deviled Eggs.... great snack to have during the day when you're hungry...

Celery and Carb Smart Peanut Butter... my fave comfort food! Yummy!

Chicken or Tuna Salad... in mayonaise... with a tiny bit of capers in it for a bit of tang....

LOW CARB PASTA SUCKS ASS!!! So far I've found no low carb pasta that is any good!

Good luck! I wish you all the luck on losing the weight you want :)

LMFAO

Practice what you preach.

Dr Atkins slipped and fell on some icy pavement and sustained a head injury that lead to his death.

Have you tried the new Dreamfield's Pasta? I haven't tried it yet, but I know a bunch of people who SWEAR by it. Says it is fanstastic.

I saw a coupon in the Sunday paper for it this past weekend. I think I may try some. :)

(and I've lost about 35 lbs since January on a modified Atkins diet. Lost another 15 on The Zone before that.)

not really, I tend to stay around 15-30 carbs a day. I haven't had soda since then (well diet a&w have had some, and tried diet riet but that shit sucks, and had diet mountain dew which tastes good but I decided against it)

I drink mainly water and crystal light, the lemonade flavor tastes good so does a few of the other passion fruits.

Have found I really like Evian water, alot of the other bottled water has a weird taste and Evian just tastes clear.

why? by being overweight means I am more at risk for problems then by losing the weight. Plus I feel better.

When i goto the doctor i'll bet all levels they test are much better then they were.

And I dont eat a ton of fat really.

4Pics 06-07-2004 11:18 PM

The adkins pancake mixes i really like, I had the 7 or 8 carb one and now have the 3 gram one, can't really taste a difference in them and they taste just like bisquick pancakes or from what I remember.

The big key for people starting the diet I think really is to go about a month without really any sugar, then start to try some of things.

Also the new adkins chips suck, but if you get salsa 3 carbs then I can eat chips and salsa with everyone else.

Faith69 06-07-2004 11:21 PM

pork rinds are free on the diet... meaning zero carbs.... and they taste great dipped in salsa :) Also if you're past the first stage... dipped in Fritos cheese dip... only about 3 - 5 grams of carbs...

This is very true Faith.

You can eat a low carb & low fat diet and remain very healthy while losing weight.

However, you SHOULD also exercise with this diet as with any btw.

Aspertane that's in all the diet sodas can cause a lot of people to stall on the diet. But you also need to drink a LOT of water too.
