Kelly Fraiser and Gerry Bettman just handed the cup to the fucking Lightning. Way to go Bettman, maybe your next TV contract will be better than the whopping ZERO DOLLARS the league is getting from the current deal with ABC. That's right, all Bettman's moves to bring Canadian teams to big US markets has resulted in the WORST contract we've ever had on US TV. :321GFY

Yes all the Calgary penalties were deserved, but there were 6-7 penalties against Tampa that should have been called but weren't. Of course I'll come off as a simple sore loser to some, but I haven't bitched for the past 11 years of Canada not having the cup. I can live with loosing, I can't live with being robbed.

In the first two periods I agree, Calgary looked like a farm team. The fact is the penalties were completely biased and no one can predict what would happen if they would have been fair. They could have easily come back.

Maybe you didnt get the ABC feed that I did, but they did a 3d display of the puck and it clearly showed only half the puck went in. The rule says the whole puck must go in.

You gotta admit the interference penalty on Pratt was a bit cheesy, they both collided against each other. Which resulted on the Conroy goal.

No way man, he had a scoring chance and was pulled down, clear as day. When one guy is going for the puck and the other guy takes him down like that, it's interference.

On the other hand there were about 5 trips on Tampa where the refs went completly blind, as per the new bargaining agreement against small market teams.

Go Bettman! I'm sure the 100 million dollar NFL TV deal he promised us is right around the corner!!!

Anytime a player gets whacked in the face and the refs see it, they are going to call it. Ference gave Fraser no other choice other than to call it. On the other hand, Tampa's top players outplayed the Flames top player. Calgary made great strides to be in the Stanely Cup Playoff, but their top player didn't play the way he did the entire series. Period. Suprise you aren't whining about the close call the other night when the puck appeared to be in the net. (which is wasn't...)

Simply put, Calgary didn't show up tonight. All of us know, that when they are playing great hockey, they are a very tough team to beat. Hats off to the Lightning for a great season..

calgary showed heart the last 10 mins..aside that they got dominated. They should of wrapped things up in calgary in game 6, where thet totally outplayed tampa. But they didnt.

as for the penalty on calgary late in the game, i agree it sucked, but there was blood..so u know he had to call it.

Or about the game of hockey in general. Congrats to Tampa on a nice win, congrats to both teams on a hard-fought and very entertaining series. I've heard several people in recent days saying that this has been the best cup series ever, and I tend to lend some agreement to that. Both teams deserved to be there, both showed a lot of heart, and in the end.... the best team won.

Indeed. All I have to say folks is, listen to Suter. Anyone calling him a "poor loser" before he even lost is clueless. He's one of the most honorable, respected men to ever play the game and he doesn't talk shit for the sake of it. Bettman and the idiots who try to run this league wanted anything BUT Calgary taking the cup home, and it showed up when they didn't review the goal that won it in game 6. Hopefully that guy will get fucking fired after the owners realize all his bullshit has done dick all for their bottom lines, meanwhile completely alienating hockey's most loyal fans. I don't see where hiring a commissioner who's never played, coached, or watched hockey could have gone wrong, but it did.

St. Louis in the dying minutes was cross checked? I think maybe you were watching the wrong game. Making a guy bleed isn't an automatic penalty anymore, and his stick wasn't even in the picture so I don't see where you get crosschecking from. They called him for charging, which is taking I think at least 3 steps and then leaving your feet when you hit a guy. That clearly didn't happen on the play.

Nobody was robbed.. ABC Sports did a 3D animation of the apparent goal. The puck was on edge, however it was not across the ENTIRE goal line. I was sure that the NHL screwed up big time, however Monday, I saw the replay one more time and then I saw the 3D animation and it clearly showed that it was not over the ENTIRE line.

I remember in '95 Gretzky high sticks Gilmour of the Leafs on a face-off and cuts him bad, game is tied. Automatic 5 minute penalty and ejection from the game.

Guess what? Ruling was that none of the officials saw it.

Exactly. There were bad calls on both sides. When is the last time you saw a game that didn't have a bad call or one that didn't get called. The power play when Conroy scored the goal should have never happened.

Actually Frazer DIDN"T see the stick hit the face, he called charging! How the fuck is that charging? It is not! It was a bad call based on what he caleld. Had he called it high sticking then mayyyyybe you could see it.

For those who don't watch hockey regularly you never see a call in the last few minutes of a hockey game unless it is blatant. Had he high sticked him in the face without the body check and the ref called that, ok. But it was a hard check and Frazer thought shit that was a hard check...he must have been charging at him. Outright ridiculas!!

On a side note, Tampa deserved to win, they outplayed Calgary in the game. Congrats to them!!

You don't win the stanley cup by showing up to the game halfway through the third period. Don't get me wrong, i was going for the flames, but they didnt start playing until the third period.

Next time Cowtown should play like they are playing for the Cup and not first game of the season. What a pathetic showing first 2 periods and they really did'nt pick shit up till 5 minutes into the 3rd.. too little, too late.

It's all Kerry Fraser's fault. Really it is. He made the Flames play like shit the whole game. Wait, maybe it was the Zamboni drivers fault. It could have been Brad Richards wife too because she looked so hot it distracted the Flames players. I'm not really sure where to point the blame but I know it certainly didn't have anything to do with the Calgary Flames players. :1orglaugh
