Porn industry - is there more supply than demand?

Just curious. The market becomes oversaturated with sites, sponsor/affiliate programs who try to get as much surfers as possible and retain them, the Search engines are filled with free pics / videos etc - 4 years ago I couldn't find a nude chick to jerk on.

So, where is this going? I know the strongest will survive but, what's your view on the whole issue of supply/demand ?

In some cases, depends on the niche.

The " porn " is very much over saturated , you just gotta find the niche that isn't .

I'm sure its going to keep getting worse. Too many people in poorer countries coming online and seeing they can make an easier living with porn online then they can rolling cigars or whatever.

They don't care if they just make 500 bucks a month.

Good point also there are stay at home Mom's who again dont care if they only make $500- 1000 a month . It beats getting a part time job.

if you couldnt find free porn 4 years ago you were looking in the wrong places thats about the time when the saturation started to happen perhaps a couple of years earlier but we certainly saw the newbie supernova hapen around that time

to answer your question though yes definate oversaturation

Paul Markham 06-07-2004 10:31 AM

Trust me porn is no where near over saturated there is plenty of meat left on the bone.

The only problem, as I see it, is the number of new surfers coming to the Net for porn has fallen, the number of quality sites has risen and the porn buyer is more savvy.

So the days of this just being a numbers game are over for most, the newbies will pick up that market and as you say work for a level that most can't live on, $1,000 a month. :1orglaugh

For the experienced, the talented and the established the way to go is quality and volume traffic. Make sure the surfer sees something better, it does not have to be different. I've been shooting trhe same thing for decades and it still sells.

Am I worried about some guy in Moscow picking up a camera and starting a content store? Give me a break, unless he can shoot like me why should I care. The more newbies the better, makes the good guys look even better.
