ALL THE TIME! im usually more than glad to help, but more often than not the problem is them, and not their computer. :)

I get that all the time. Pisses me off.

My friends ask me to fix their computer problems all the time...

Pisses me off when they don't even try fixing it themselves first. My friend's MSN wasn't working, there was some error code, and he didn't even bother checking Google...

But I'd rather fix my family members computer than some

dumbass at Compusa for an arm and a leg.

Yes, they don't seem to realize I know nothing about computers. Asking me about computer problems is like asking a car salesmen about car problems.

I used to help people out, but nowdays I tell them I know shit about computers. Saves a lot of time :winkwink:

just walk over there and look at it like a doctor, and say "hummmm" then change the angel you are lookin at it to the other side, give it another "hummmm.. " then walk away because you looked at it :thumbsup

I get that from my friend's wife and my mechanic.

tell them to call 911 for technical support!!! There are millions of call centers in the world to call!

yea people always think i know everything about computers when i dont even really know anything about hardware...

Friends and family always turn to me for advice re: comp problems. And I try to help them the best that I can. :)

Why not? Then you get to snoop around in their files and see what porn sites your friends & relatives have been visiting.

most of the times they just dont know that clicked something wrong. but if i see that a virus ate the whole thing or like something which i clearly cant fix, i tell em to go ask for professional help.

seems as soon as people know you work on computers they expect you to want to fix theirs and be their 24/7 free tech support.

yeah, i got one of that. one time somebody knocked at my place while i was chillin out and there was this guy i didnt know who said, hey i heard form downstairs that youre the computer guy around here, will you go check on my pc?

im like, huh?

so we went there and it was just a minor thing but in the back of my mind i was like, sheesh.
