My finger tips are numb and tingly. Anyone ever have this problem?

What the fuck could it be?

nathan_f 06-06-2004 05:21 PM

stroke

Harmon 06-06-2004 05:22 PM

anxiety attack. too much carbon dioxide in the bloodstream. either you smoke or you have been doing some heavy breathing due to stress. too much air intake and not enough exhaling causes this.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome most likely . . . .quite common when doing repetitive motion like typing all the time

indeed. If you have a strong pain in your left arm and your fingers go numb call a doctor NOW.

Or you could be treating your body like an amusement park...
Mrs Costanza said that to George when he was caught doing it..

I was reading up on some sites. Some said it might be a pinched nerve. I fell on my elbow on cement. I am guessing that might be the cause of it. But, I am no fucking doctor.

bllott 06-06-2004 05:38 PM

i had a condition like that for a couple weeks some time back. I was more like I could touch but I wouldn't be able to feel like before, it would feel like i was touching something else with a different part of my hand. i thought i was going to die

that could be it, i fell on my elbow in hockey practice when i was 14 and I needed to have surgery to remove bone chips cause it was causing nerve problems

SlickRick 06-06-2004 05:43 PM

Nerve damage, or a pinched nerve. I get that once in a while

i had that before, i didnt have feeling in my pinky for almost a month, but if i put pressure on it i'd get the tingly feeling, then it eventually went away, i would worry too much

just my opinion

If there is one thing 3+ years at GFY has taught me, is that you don't need to be a doctor to give a medical diagnosis

187 06-06-2004 07:25 PM

panic attack

escorpio 06-06-2004 07:49 PM

Once, long time ago. Cocaine overdose. What are you doing?

reynold 06-06-2004 08:00 PM

Try to relax. Maybe its the pressure.

I have the samething..have had it for a while and I also fell on my elbow

misty_dayz 06-06-2004 08:24 PM

carpal tunnel...don't worry though, it will get worse and you will be forced to get a proper diagnosis.
OMG what can i do....I'm gonna die!!! Go get an ergonomic keyboard, get a gel mouse pad (if you use the optical mouse turn the pad around so the part you are supposed to put your mouse on is hanging off your desk and the only thing on your desk is a gel part).
Next...proper chair with back support. Height of the chair should be where your feet just sit flat on the floor and your knees are in line with your hips. Monitor should be the height where you look straight ahead without looking down.
Exercise time: Take frequent breaks. Bend your elbows, put your hands together like you are going to pray...now open your spread your fingers apart, move your palms away (think of the position your hands would be in if you were doing pushups on the floor with just your fingertips...but instead of putting them on the floor...put the fingertips together)...now press the fingertips into each other without putting the hands together....one...two...three...four five.....now go back to praying hands and push every so slightly....one...two...three...back to fingertips....(this should be repeated three times)
Do the exercise every hour you are sitting at the keyboard.

There is a couple more exercises I used to do (given to me by an ergonomic freak) that got rid of the constant pain and numbness but i forget them....
End result...went away and now if my hands get a little tired...i do do something else for 20 minutes.

You should see a doctor so you know for sure...

But it seems like Carpel Tunnel to me.

Buy good mouse and keyboard pads.

After I did that the pain went away for me.

pimplink 06-06-2004 10:03 PM

got strain from overtyping maybe or it could be some serious joint problem...they usually start in your hands cuz they got used the most...
