A thank you and my deepest respect

On this day, D-Day, I wish to show my respect to your english, american and canadian grandfathers who fought for peace in Europe and the rest of the world. We can't even begin to imagine what kind of hell those men were put into.

I'm Scandinavian and can only say thank you to your grandfathers who believed in peace.
May their ideas and believe in peace live forever.

D-Day was not the end of the war but it was the day where thousands of brave men decided to begin the end of the war. My grandfather was in the danish underground army and was fighting against the nazis and I got nothing but respect for those fighting for freedom.

:)

The footage that I've been seeing lately is just incredible. The sheer scope of that war and of D-Day blows my mind.

My grandfather fought in the war. Lied about his age at 15 to enter the army. My grandmother has his paratrooper wings and unit patch still to this day.

Back then war was a personal thing..no such thing as hidin in the bunker sending out missiles or heavy aircraft bombing missions.. It was in your face, in the mud WAR. These guys gave up everything they had to go help troubled countries, and end the death and destruction, and many paid with there own lives

Its one of my saddest days every year..

But its also my proudest.

Sounds a lot like my feelings.

It's an extremely sad event but on the other hand it's also a reminder of victory and the will to fight for freedom.
I feel so sad when I think about all the men who died for freedom.

Like a veteran said:
If you're willing to live in freedom you must also be willing to die for freedom.

Those men are the bravest ever brought to our world.
