Microsoft: No additional licensing for backup servers
Intended to enhance the current licensing options under the Microsoft Software Assurance Program, Microsoft has announced that no additional software licensing is needed to run MS server products on machines used as part of server emergency plans. This is good news for businesses that shelf backup servers as a part of their disaster recovery programs. The Software Assurance Program usually costs an additional 25% of the software purchase price. The program adds value to licensing MS products buy allowing for free upgrades, payment plans and in some cases, training materials.
