Is Smarty Jones gonna pull it off today? I'm so excited I could spit!

No pedigree, no big stable behind him, an unknown recovering alcoholic jockey, first trainer that bred him was murdered, and then he fractured his skull in the starting gate only 6 weeks before his first run, yet he's never lost a race. He would be the first Triple Crown winner in 26 years. They'll be more people watching, attending, and more money bet than any horse race in history. How could anyone not want him to win?

Anybody watching? Anyone betting?

Sama 06-05-2004 12:03 PM

Yes, I'll be watching! Not betting. I can't wait till the race! Yep, I think he'll do it with ease! What a horse!!

TurboAngel 06-05-2004 12:08 PM

I'll be watching it here, a great horse from Philly!

:thumbsup

I guess it will just be the 3 of us. I can't believe more people aren't fired up about him. Even if you don't like horse racing, you gotta love this little guy. He's like the porn peddler horse of the mainstream horse racing world. If he were human, he'd no doubt be registered and posting here. ;-}

Digipimp 06-05-2004 12:13 PM

man i've always enjoyed going to the track to bet and watch the races. but getting deep into it and caring about background and all that bullshit is fucking boring.

This is not just *any* horse. It's his background and story that makes him so appealing. That's the reason people are going nuts. He has no real breeding or background and shouldn't even be winning, but I don't think there's a race horse on the face of the planet that can beat him, unless he gets tripped up. He doesn't just win... he leaves the rest of the pack half way around the track. Just read about him and then watch the fucking race!

like i said i know all about it and i always enjoyed horse races, but i can hardly find even the slightest reason for me to give a fuck about the background of a horse.

AdultNex 06-05-2004 12:30 PM

The next Secretariat?

Yep, kinda like that movie Seabisket. Have you seen it?

:thumbsup

Sama 06-05-2004 12:35 PM

Just watch the preview of the race, I guarantee they will have a brief about his background that should be really good. That is what got me excited about him when I watched him race a few races ago.

Yes, I think the next Secretariat. Cool coincidence that Smarty is in the same barn as Secretariat at the Bellmont.

Oh and Seabiskit was an awesome movie!

Just shut up and watch the damn race. If he loses I'm holding you personally responsible for casting gloom on my thread and jinxing him. :BangBang:

Digipimp 06-05-2004 12:38 PM

oh my a poor horse from humble beginings. wtf? it's a fucking horse, who cares about that bullshit.

i once saw this rat run really fast through a city street and i paused to think of were his parents well off, did they live in a rich neighborhood but then i thought no. he never would have had that desire to run so fast. i often wished i could have wrote a book about him and his 12 rat brothers and sisters who had to run so fast just find a scrap of food in the city streets.

yeah right

lilj 06-05-2004 12:38 PM

Yeah, it's a great movie, although every time I hear that name now, all I can think about is Brian humping Lois' father's dog on Family Guy. :1orglaugh

And yes, I definitely think he's another Secretariat. They better put up a big ass bronze statue of him, too!

bizmak 06-05-2004 12:46 PM

he must pull it dude, but still i cant watch and bett :(

Maybe we can work out a deal where they'll pay you for every person who views the race. There's gonna be record numbers!!

QUIT JINXING MY THREAD AND MY HORSE!!!!

If he loses, you better pack up and leave town, because it will be 110% your fault!

why would anyone bet on a horse that's such a big favorite, you would have to bet in the tens of thousands to even make a decent little bit of cash.

It's not about the betting, for me. I don't bet, so I didn't bet on him. I have family and friends that did, though. Either way, I still want him to win!!

EviLGuY 06-05-2004 01:18 PM

Horse racing doesn't really interest me..

quiet 06-05-2004 01:18 PM

what else do you do when you're excited?
