Is that video from this year? Because that Indian news site makes no mention of his embarrassing fall.

Got up by himself and still got it right.

When I was their age I lost a spelling bee on the word "fifty"
and theyre spelling words like Ofdlkjaoirjfwelkfjsdkjflskjf

:1orglaugh

beemk 06-05-2004 02:37 AM

at least he got the word right

thumbsUP 06-05-2004 05:24 AM

He fanted beacuse he has the kind of parents that "reward faliure" with a "loving beating" thats "for your own good" he knew if he didnt get it right thats what was gonna be waiting for him when he got home. You know the parent that are os obsessed with their kids activities that faliure is no a option.

thumbsUP 06-05-2004 05:25 AM

I agree but as parents we want out kids to succeed. My daughter tested at college level on her spelling and reading when she was in second grade. She tested in high school levels on the other subjects. I have a rule in my house that she must bring home straight A's if she doesn't bring home books to study. If she at least makes a solid attempt to make good grades by bringing home her books and studying then that is relaxed. She's been told that if she makes an effort and can't perform that it is ok but if she is lazy and just doesn't make an effort and brings home lower than an A she is in deep shit. She tested me once by bringing home a C on a spelling test. She was promptly grounded to her room with nothing but a book. That was a year and a half ago and she hasn't brought home anything less than an A since then. It sounds harsh but it's really not because it encourages her to work hard.

*cough* asshole *cough*

When your daughter grows up to resent you don't wonder why.

About the kid, he probably locked his knees which restricts your bloodflow and can cause you to faint. Why many grooms have fainted at the altar. :2 cents:

Zebra 06-05-2004 08:50 AM

I actually watched the spelling bee the other day. That kid finished in 2nd place. Nice comeback. :thumbsup
Amazing how some of these kids can spell insane words. Almost seems like some of them have computers for brains.

TheDoc 06-05-2004 08:52 AM

He looked like he locked his knees which will make you faint.

WiredGuy 06-05-2004 11:46 AM

LOL, wow, that's nuts.
WG

ibuydomains 06-05-2004 11:51 AM

Funny how the other kids just stared at him and didnt help him up... tough competition :1orglaugh

B40 06-05-2004 11:57 AM

Ever see the movie SpellBound? The amount of pressure and practice these kids go through is insane...

Some kids were practicing hours every day, some even had their own coaches...

PrivateEye 06-05-2004 12:00 PM

I saw it on cnn....Could not believe he got back up and spelled the word right :-)
