A way to stop thieves?
A good article, will this work?
http://ynotnews.ynotmasters.com/issu...304/page6.html Sorry for linking to another board, but this affects us all. |
could be.
but knowing them, they would probably find a way around it. |
Paul... the last thing you want is for the government to get involved. You can't expect that they will take this issue seriously when they find out what kind of content you are talking about. Just imagine that little 'O Baptist Lady really getting concerned because someone ripped off your naked girl pictures.
Not only that... What you cited is a US law... and all nations would be covered under it's provisions due to the Berne Convention. But... there have been a number of recent splits and non-cooperation regarding other copyright issues in the last couple years that leads me to believe that international copyright protection is just a token slogan. Personally, content thieft reported to the hosting company will get you a much faster response. I had content stolen last month... and I contacted the host in Dallas, they contacted the site that had my material, and the issue was solved in one day. Do you think the Federal Government is going to be able to get those kinds of results? Keep up the good work :thumbsup |
Lifer, did we read the same article. It says that you serve a DMCA Notice on the site owner, hosts, sponsors, AVS, TGP and if ignored they become liable.

Can't hurt...

I didn't read the article, but appearantly the host in Dallas did.
I mentioned in my email, that if they let the customer continue when copyright violations had beed brought to their attention, they they could be found liable as well. Just common sense. My point was... The law is written... ( copyright law)... and now we have the "new law"... but the only way to get real action is to take care of the problem yourself. When you send an email to a host telling them that they have a customer that has pirated and/or illegal, copyrighted material, etc... the hosting companies have ways to deal with that. Normally, according to the contracts I have signrd, they will simply pull your plug with no refund. |
