2 desktop computers VS. dual screen

whats more efficient, easier to work with and less time consuming?

jact 06-03-2004 09:12 PM

dual monitors hands down.

Amp 06-03-2004 09:12 PM

6 computers, one with dual screens.

think big grasshopper.

Vitasoy 06-03-2004 09:13 PM

If running a lot of applications that require a lot of system resources then 2 pcs would be ideal.

Tempest 06-03-2004 09:18 PM

I run dual monitors. Would like 3. But there's always some sort of problem (even with updated drivers). If you run dual monitors with no problems, what video card do you use?

dual screens unless you're running multiple resource intensive programs all the time.

abyss_al 06-03-2004 09:35 PM

i would go with 2 desktops

Pornwolf 06-03-2004 09:35 PM

Dual screens. I've been running 3 cpu's and a laptop lately, it's a real pain in da ass!

Ah. Thought you'd already started. Well good luck man. The first few weeks are the hardest. I quit (for the 2nd time in my life) before XMas. Still holding out but sitting in front of the computer all day doesn't help.

fuzebox 06-03-2004 09:43 PM

Dual monitors are great :thumbsup

Ash@phpFX 06-04-2004 02:10 AM

why not dual pcs with dual monitors? you can get kvm switches that support dual monitors now

EviLGuY 06-04-2004 04:39 AM

I like having 2 computers personally.. I run a lot of monotonous scans and shit with the other computer.. rather not have it bogging down my work machine.

I have a nice 21 inch monitor on the main computer.. I don't need anymore deskspace then 1600x1200

Firehorse 06-04-2004 01:32 PM

I use 3 computers on my desk usually, my laptop is being repaired atm. I am thinking of getting dual screens. :)

pubenemy 06-04-2004 01:44 PM

I love dual monitors and will never go back. My office has two pc's each with dual monitors than another pc with a single monitor that I usually watch satellite tv on.

I use 2 desktops and 3 monitors. One is for production of work and has the two monitors. To be able to put something on the other one like a googled tutorial on some fucking insane and arcane bullshit whilst I work on the bullshit on the other??? Priceless!

The other computer with one monitor is for when I want to watch a stolen movie, listen to stolen music or listen to internet radio for who knows what reason.

Za Ha 06-04-2004 02:13 PM

I have dual monitors and a laptop.
Good enough.

BV 06-04-2004 02:17 PM

for what i do 2 pcs and 1 monitor would be nice but for now i use 2 pcs each with their own monitor, video editing is a hog

Same...

1 inhouse mini shuttle server and 4 laptop (got one in the bathroom too) all wireless and setup for remote desktop. dual monitors are cool but really not practical if you're not coding, day trader, or monitor servers you really don't need it. they look cool put half the time you'll probably just be focused on 1 screen while the other screen sits with IE open. is it really worth it when you can just click on the taskbar to bring up IE from the background? no :2 cents:

EvilFubAr 06-04-2004 02:23 PM

Ive moved on to 3 monitors, work time cuts down each time you add one. :)

ldinternet 06-04-2004 02:32 PM

2 computers - leave one for automated tasks and tasks that require a lot of memory/processing power, then use the other one for checking email, light work, etc.

Nice site... will try it.

Go triple monitor on the same computer with the Matrox Parahelia card.. I have one and I could never go back to two monitors, or worse yet one monitor even if it was on each of two computers.

Outlook on the right, work in the center, reference material on the left.

Cheers,

Brad

what size are your 3 monitors?

bigdog 06-04-2004 03:16 PM

Isn't 3 monitors really overkill? I got two 21inch lcd's and sometimes i don't even use the second monitor

inabon 06-04-2004 03:16 PM

dual monitors pentium 4 with HT 1 GIG RAM 2 80 gig harddrives 7200rpm ALL on XP :) you dont even have to buy an expensive dual monitor card buy 1 agp kick ass card and one kick ass pci card and you are set. i run 2 nvidea cards each with 64 ram (on pci one AGP) ofcoz use agp for primary monitor.

SeTec 06-04-2004 03:17 PM
