Meteorite crashes into Seattle!!

Ok, so it didn't crash (apparently) into the ground but burned out in the air. But it turned nightime into FULL daylight (not joking..look at the pics and videos from the newsite link below) and it made a LOUD noise like an explosion. A lot of people thought there had been a terrorist attack. Certainly something very few people probably have ever experienced.

Incredibley awe inspiring as well as a bit terrifying!

Vitasoy 06-03-2004 05:12 PM

Yea, heard about it on the news, too bad I couldn't witness it :(

Centurion 06-03-2004 05:16 PM

It even made CNN news. Apparently it gave NORAD a bit of a start for a couple of secs.

Corona 06-03-2004 05:18 PM

Slept right through it.

infecto 06-03-2004 05:18 PM

That must have been awesome to see.

Or maybe..with all those UFO reports that people started posting a few days ago..THE INVASION HAS BEGUN!

Mars has decided to take pre-emptive action against the Bush regime and rid the country of its WMDs!

Can anyone explain to me what is so different about Washington state that would make it so rare for a meterorite to strike?

"It certainly could be a meteor. They're extremely rare events," Smith told KING 5 News. "To my knowledge, I don't think anyone's ever seen one fall in Washington state that's made it all the way to the ground."

Believe it or not, this picture was at 2:40 am..not 2:40 pm. It looks like the field is lit on a typical summer DAY! Truly incredible.

We just missed it. We have a new puppy and we were up for the middle of the night pee about 15 minutes before it happened.

Wish I had seen it.

It seems totally incredible to me now that everyone spent that evening as though it were just like any other. From the railway station came the sound of shunting trains, ringing and rumbling, softened almost into melody by the distance. It all seemed so safe and tranquil.

"The chances of anything coming from Mars are a million to one," he said.
I awoke to alien sounds of hammering from the pit, and hurried to the railway station to buy the paper. Around me, the daily routine of life - working, eating, sleeping - was continuing serenely as it had for countless years.

"The chances of anything coming from Mars are a million to one - but still they come!"
At dawn, a falling star with a trail of green mist landed with a flash like summer lightning. This was the second cylinder.
