I think with all the newer sig whores starting useless threads and then getting into pissing matches with each other the thread count grew rapidly (All courtesy of ARS).

good if the threads are improving and bad if the threads are getting worst. i don't really know which is the case,

i feel pretty much the same. im new too, only going in my third month here and i have yet to start a thread in this forum. the only thread i have started was in the newbie section and it only got 2 replys :( i didnt even post a 'hi im new here' thread :)
