Constantly thirsty?

i wonder if this qualifies as some kind of phobia or something....

I always have to have something to drink within arms reach. Start the day with coffee, (usually a full pot), then the rest of the day it's either 7up or water or Sprite or Dr. Pepper or a Jamba Juice or something. I switch between them throughout the day. But basically, if I'm awake, I have to have something to drink within reach. It isn't that I'm even thirsty all the time.... just gotta have something though, just in case I might get thirsty.

is this weird? Or does anyone do this too....

C-Bass 06-02-2004 02:21 PM

you might have a slight diabetic problem. Go check it out

hmmm.... i don't know.... i've been this way for as long as I can remember. It's more like, some kind of fear of not having anything to drink, cuz if I go out or something and don't have something, I gotta stop and get something just to make sure I have it.

Hue G. Pness 06-02-2004 02:26 PM

Yea I constantly have something to drink and I drink a lot of what ever I have. Mostly when on the comp. I probably drink 12 to 14 glasses of water a day.

NickPapageorgio 06-02-2004 02:26 PM

It may be a slight version of an OCD. My cousin has to turn every light in her house on and off atleast once when she comes home from being out anywhere. Kind of sad but quite amusing...

sinkiss 06-02-2004 02:26 PM

might be a phobia, but i agree with spotter, that is one of the signs of being diabetic

sexyclicks 06-02-2004 02:26 PM

I drink gallons of water
I don't like softdrinks, juice, nothing

mindoza 06-02-2004 02:26 PM

I never go to bed without bringing a huge glass of ice water with me, usually it barley gets touch but it has to be there.

Amp 06-02-2004 02:27 PM

alot of times I don't even drink whatever it is.... it just sits there for hours and the ice melts and I end up dumping it out and refilling it. But it's the having it available to me "just in case" that most matters.

This is exactly what I was thinking. I have Diabetes running like wildfire in my family and I have to get tested sometimes. I have been what they call borderline for many years and this is the big thing they tell me to watch out for.

Tala 06-02-2004 02:31 PM

Same here. I must always have something to drink, all day everyday.

Meta Ridley 06-02-2004 02:33 PM

Dude , all the Caffiene and sugar are making you thirsty. Without a doubt, cut back on the shit.

Amp 06-02-2004 02:35 PM

i should probly mention that I also eat alot of salty stuff during the day.... beef jerky, pistachios.... crap like that

The caffiene, sugar and salt are for sure your problem bro. Try cutting back and see how you do.

4Pics 06-02-2004 02:36 PM

cut back on the salt and you wont need to drink so much.

Penrod 06-02-2004 02:41 PM

Do you have nightmares of being stranded in the desert or on an island perhaps?

Amp 06-02-2004 02:42 PM

i shouldn't really have said constantly thirsty.... that's not really correct, cuz like I was saying, alot of times it just sits there for hours. But as long as I have it, I'm good.

it's more like some kind of weird security blanket thing.... if I go somewhere, it comes with me. If I alswer the front door, it comes with me. If I go outside or upstairs, it comes with me. If I go to the bathroom, it comes with me. Everywhere I go, it needs to be there.

i just thought that was kind of strange.

hmmm..... maybe you're onto something there. Not nightmares, but being surrounded by all the worlds undrinkable salt water.

SS396chevelleSS 06-02-2004 02:55 PM

cherrylula 06-02-2004 04:04 PM

I am the same way. Can't even go to bed without a glass of water on the nightstand.

Water, beer, or occasional coffee or soft drink (notice the order I typed those in :Graucho )

oh yeah and this great new redbull habit - another 2 grand a year expense

SykkBoy 06-02-2004 04:18 PM

I'm the same way...when I'm on the computer, I have to have a drink near me at all times...I get so bad, sometimes, I'll have 2 or 3 open sodas at sitting around...it's almost like I can't concentrate if I don't have something there...

smokingdawn 06-02-2004 04:20 PM

I am the same way...always have something to drink close by

r0nin 06-02-2004 04:22 PM

Sounds like possible diabetic symptons to me too.. :2 cents:

digifan 06-02-2004 05:09 PM

Hey Amp,

if you were tested for diabetes and they found nothing, no need to worry imo.. just stick to mineral water and avoid the junk. The dr.s say it is very healthy to drink lots of water.

:)

Bake 06-02-2004 05:17 PM

The other day I bought a water filter cold water dispenser has its own little chillier built in so you always have cold filtered water on tap

(many people speak of my drinking but nobody speaks of my thirst "Oscar Wild")

beemk 06-02-2004 05:19 PM

caffine dehydrates you. try drinking some water.

eroswebmaster 06-02-2004 05:19 PM

I'm the same way Amp...I constantly have something to drink in my hand.

We freeze water to take on jaunts around town lol..it gets so hot in this town and doesn't last long.

re: diabetes.

I've been told this before, and have been tested a few times..and was fine..but like you said amp I've been this way ever since I can remember.

I guess you and I have something in common, after all. In my case, it's iced tea and water but I drink a LOT and I always want something within reach. As someone else mentioned, it's been suggested to me that the issue may be related to diabetes.

Cut out caffeine. It dehydrates you.
