The Drama Thread: Scammers And How They Operate
Last week I got a "Hello" message from a guy on AOL instant messenger by the name of "webcreativejr"
He told me he was in the "industry" and that he had all kinds of deals he could make me. I told him that I was a black porn webmaster and that I doubted he had anything I could use. And gave him my URL www.cocoaporn.com He then told me he had 2.5 million black porn e-mails such a high number of e-mail for such a small niche I thought to myself... The next question I asked was surely going to solidify my thoughts of this guy being a scammer I asked him "Whats the source" he then replied: http://www.ebonyflics.com/ AND http://www.hiphopho.com Now I've been promoting black porn for about 2.5 years now.. I pretty much know which sites are pushing MAJOR NUMBERS and I knew that 2.5 million customer e-mails for those above sites, was a "stretch" No offense to the owners... I concluded at this point that this guy was a complete scammer and con artist. 5 minutes pass.. And he then asks me what was my URL again, and that he could send me some traffic I ignore the offer because I realize this is yet him reaching for another scam ***********FAST FORWARD A WEEK************ This same guy contacts me on AOL instant messenger with the following: Scammer: "Hey Do you want to make $2500?" Me: "What?" S: "Unnamed Affiliate Program's Owners AOL ID" will be contacting you all you have to do is tell him you work with me Me: "But I don't work with you" S: "I'll cut you in on $2500 of the deal" At this point I realize that this guy has hustled the sponsor that he has made the deal with, with a deal including me and my site or sites. I contact the Affiliate Program Owner and asks me what is the name of my company so that he can make the check out PAUSE: I now realize that I am the missing and final link to a serious crime about to be commited Sure, I need an extra $2500 as much as the next guy, but it's here that professionalism and honesty override greed and dishonesty and the quest for a fast quick effort free $2500 dollars. I then let the program owner know that he has been given a deal that I have no knowledge of and that I have no affliation with the person that made him the deal.... Good for you. In the end you will come out ahead because a reputation is worth far more than that pittance.
|
If the deal seems too good to be true or you have a bad gut feeling about it, It's always best to walk away...
|
Holy shit Platinum why didnt you tell me about that?

Scammers seem to pop up more and more.
The problem is they don't learn. You bust them, and they come up with simply another scam :( |
