Calling Someone A "Nigga"
 

Is it a bad thing if your buddy, who's white, call you (black) a nigga??? My buddy came up to me and was like "Wazzup Nigga?" That was his first time. It took me back for a second but then we went on talking and hanging. I'm just thinking about it though. What made him say that to me after about 16 years of friendship? Was that in the back of his mind all the time? We grew up in KKK Central (aka Louisiana) but he never gave a hint of being a racist. Hmmmm.....


Besides, my black friends, although few, say it to each other and me, too. So, is it really that wrong?

So do you use it around him often?
I am sure after 16 years you would know if it was at the back of his mind the entire time. Face it us white boys be confused and when we attempt to fit in with our black friends things do get odd at times.
I think most of it of course is context. Whaz up nigga is a hell of alot different then Get out ******.

i think it depends on the context and the familiarlarity... for him to say wazzup nigga to you in fine but if he went to the shops and said you nigga gimme a pack of winstons there is a good chance he would get his ass kicked

The county that borders this one I live in, which is about 2 miles away, it is THE single most racist place I have ever seen in my life. I lived there for two years until my youngest son came home 3 years ago and asked me why he had to hate brown skinned people.......... we moved the hell out of there and FAST. We didn't live there long, a few years, and I had heard stories about it, but never really believed it. But turns out the KKK meets like every Sunday at the corner diner, about 1/2 mile from where I lived....... so we had to move. I am NOT racist and won't raise children who are.... and won't have them raised in a place that is.

I think of all the things my kids have ever said to me, THAT was one of the most crushing one, it broke my heart that second grade children should have to think about this sort of thing. :(

Intentions aside, I think you should bitch slap the peckerwood and let him know that the word is 100% unacceptable.

I think this is mainly a by-product of the net. Smart-ass white kids can drop n-bombs in chat rooms and on boards without fear, and suddenly all of the gomers think it's okay to say it to a black person's face. Educate them otherwise.

every race in my area uses the "nigga" word...i even say "sup nigga" to my white and asian friends and they do the same. just make sure you are cool with a blk guy before u say it or you may get knocked the fuck out

My oldest son had a good friend and I heard my youngest son one day screaming out my window, "HEY ******" I nearly died and wanted to kick his ass OUT the damn window.......... he was like 4 at the time..... and this kid tells me it is ok, he told him he could call him that, but I had to stop it because at 4, they don't know it's acceptable for this one and not that one.

I hate that word more than any other word I can ever imagine hearing........... even in fun and such, I just hate it.

I hear people around here making all sorts of derrogatory remarks at different races and it drives me mad....... LOL

I get called "nigga" all the time by black people in my day to day life. I would NEVER, EVER say it back though. I usually say "bro", "man", even "brother" but NEVER "nigga".

He's not a racist, he has a black friend.

If black people can say it to each other in friendship then its only fair that a white person can do the same in friendship. If not you are the racist not your white friend.

The rule of thumb for such things is pretty simple:

If you are white, don't use the word nigga, ****** or anything else derogatory when speaking to / within hearing range of men of color nor the word bitch around the females.

Do it and you are pretty much responsible for whatever happens next.

I never really said "******" or "nigga", my close Haitian friend doesn't even let me me say "Wigger", because it comes from: "White or Wannabe ******", but some others don't mind me saying "******" (but I don't like that word anyways). I don't categorise ppl by their color, but by their nationality, because I do not think all black, asian or white people are the same (Except for the penis size). Every nation has their own culture and have their own mentality. Haitians are different from Jamaicains and Africans. French people are different from British and German people. Chinese people are different from Japanese and Korean people.

I'm sure your friend didn't say it to hurt you. Maybe he tried to be "fashionably late", and talk like everyone else, since he thought it was ok. You should talk to him, or maybe tell him to use "black" or "negro"(black in spanish) instead, I think it's more acceptable.:2 cents:
