5K english words is equal to about 2-3 printed pages. It's not much. I'd say it's worth no more than $50 per one language.

I could do Russian for some sumbolic price just for a fun, but I don't have PayPal account anymore :mad:

translating by professionals who do cross translating (ie, into the language, and get someone else to translate it back, then compare the originals) charge about 500US per page.

It's obviously useless if he wants a quality translation. You can use software to translate something to your native language from some else language, but you cannot be ever sure what you get when you translate from your native language to the language you do not know. In most cases you get text that can be a subject to make a laugh of, and sometimes it is totally fucked up at all...

I shit you not, we looked into it over here. It depends on the type of document you're getting translated, and how thorough-a job you're looking for.

As I mentioned, if you get cross-translation done, it will be $500 a page, which I agree sounds rediculous- but it means one native speaker translates it, and another translates it back, then the two originals are compared, and a third translation is made from those.

If you need bullet proof translations, that's what gets done.

That was just my 2c from previous experience :)
