just saw "The Day After Tomorrow"

very nice movie

the special effects are insanely cool and good
the focus on the characters is also very convincing

if you have a night to kill, go see this movie.

I give it a 8/10

jdog31 05-31-2004 08:19 PM

yeah it was a great movie, there was nothing really that i could not see happening if this really did happen

FilthyRob 05-31-2004 08:19 PM

I agree, great effects. I was happy to be in the warm weather after for sure!

NaughtyJenn 05-31-2004 08:20 PM

Just say "The Day After Tomorrow"...

Quick edit, eh. A minor typo... but sometimes (if you're lucky enough to catch it) you won't believe the crazy shit that people write before editing or deleting their post seconds later. I wonder if the board script keeps a log of all edits and deletions.

Anyway, I intend to go and see it one night. I also want to see Dawn of the Dead... and I can't wait. :glugglug

r0nin 05-31-2004 08:21 PM

i saw it yesterday,

quite a boring movie, effects are ok, not that good, considering it's a hollywood movie and the fucking millons of dollars invested on it.

the plot was kinda dull, same shit as always, but i guess it's what ppl like :(

but, it was interesting how they told the story of different ppl in different places, all connected by phones

i'll give it a 4/10, that movie will never be in my top ten picks

David! 05-31-2004 08:21 PM

cool movie
predictable scenario but cool nevertheless :)

absolutely, but it wasn't about "how predictable the scenario was"... it's about the cinematography and focus of the characters IMO :glugglug

Great special effects, but that's about where the "greats" stopped. The premise of the movie is bullshit. First off, what magically makes this giant hunk of ice "the size of rhode island" fall off? Secondly, it fell off the larsen ice shelf... in ANTARTICA. That means that in all probability that 200 foot tsunami would never have even reached new york. a little thing called distance plus it's lovely friend diffusion. Congrats, that's bullshit. Any flooding would have been over time (i.e. the rain). Speaking of diffusion, I fail to see how this huge rhode island chunk of ice (which magically breaks off and is pushed north to sea at an AMAZING pace) is able to melt, and then focus it's melted fresh water into the atlantic current. Oh and, the fact taht everyone in the movie was so nonchalant up until catastrophe hit them is bullshit. THe media hype alone from LA getting annhilated by 5 tornados would scare people to shitting their pants. Not only that, but the media would definately have picked up on all of these other catastrophes. This movie really did get cheesy, I half expected the president to tell America that lighting fires in their houses would save them. Oh wait, he did. I could go on forever, but i'm out of town, and pretty damned tired. Just my :2 cents:

Im buying a house in Mexico now. Just in case :thumbsup

Yea and it was nice how they had to ask fucking Astronauts to look out the window as if there aren't shitloads of weather sattelites to refer to.

Fuckin' animated wolves?

Flying news choppers right next to a bunch of tornadoes?

And why the fuck did the people who wanted to leave the library go through Brooklyn???? I'd think you'd want to go INLAND after a fucking flood.

It was certainly cheezy but entertaining. I think that is all it was meant to be.

chowda 05-31-2004 10:42 PM

it sucked

just like independants day.. too american centered.

insanesurfer 05-31-2004 10:44 PM

From what I saw it wasn't that great. Some of the special effects were good but others were really bad.

maxdaname 05-31-2004 10:44 PM

Good to know!

I just saw it too, if it wasnt for gettin down with my hottie after the movie...

I would have rated it 3/10, but... I'll give it a 5/10 because of the circumstances.

webmaster x 06-01-2004 03:29 AM

That movie's really cool! The special effects are awesome! It looks as if it's really happening! don't try to watch it on a dvd or something, go watch it on the big screen!

:thumbsup Agree totally.. I was thoroughly entertained for the 2+ hrs, and thats what I go to movies for.

pimplink 06-01-2004 04:08 AM

This is definitely a not-to-be-missed-movie!

marcu5 06-01-2004 05:05 AM

movie would have been tons better if it had a plot and a better ending. I would have walKed out a happy man if they all would have died at the end, because about time the movie was over I hated them all.

jawanda 06-01-2004 05:29 AM

I thought all the little mini-story lines that they interjected into the movie got a bit cheesy ... and Dennis Quaid "I'm going to walk" ... :1orglaugh

Edit: OH shit, and the part where all the Americans are fleeing to Mexico .. so fucking awesome. "This is the first time an American has been caught illegally crossing INTO Mexico"

But overall an entertaining flick.

You gotta be fucking kidding me right? The script and characters were so fucking lame it was almost unwatchable because of that. The specials effects saved the movie.
