I've had it suggested to me that two (2) times the annual profit.

Is this wrong?

typical deal =

6 months profit, plus content, scripts. design.

It completely depends on the industry.

If you built up a little classified ad newspaper you could get 5 or 6 times annual profits (buyer gets a 20% annual return).

But I just bought a family of AVS sites for 3 months profits (buyer gets a 400% annual return).

Again, I knee at the feet of the almighty GFY members.
