Hosted Gallery Question For Program Owners

How many of you allow this with your hosted galleries: GALLERY

You're already expected to produce the content, design the gallery, make preview thumbs, generate gallery descriptions, host the galleries, and payout 50-70%.

Are you really expected to allow your affiliates to load your gallery in a frame advertising another sponsor too?

Seriously, that's what I'm thinking but I'm seeing this more and more lately. I'm begining to wonder if other sponsors allow it or if it's just a case of the webmaster "getting away with it".

is he making you any money? would you mind it if he sent 20 signups a day?

PrivateIvy 05-31-2004 05:09 PM

It is pretty crappy...I'd have to look over his stats before I made a decision whether or not to suspend :2 cents:

This particular guy is a new affiliate and has sent very little traffic and no sign-ups (too early to judge his productivity though). In general it seems the guys that are doing this aren't sending significant sign-ups.

Even if someone was sending 20 joins a day what's to say that I'm still not on the loosing end of the deal after bandwidth because half the surfers that load the gallery end up clicking through to the other sponsor, thus diverting potential sign-ups on my dime?

If that was the case than you're paying too much for your bw. :)

no way... you get to make up your own rules!

FiReC 05-31-2004 05:25 PM

I wouldn't allow it unless we had a special arrangement...

bawdy 05-31-2004 05:27 PM

add some break out of frames java-script? dont think tgp owners would mind...

Adent007 05-31-2004 05:29 PM

just use a script on the galleries to make them reload as top.location if they are in a frame then you dont have to worry about it

if you really wanted to stop em from doing it you could set the script to check if they are using frames....if not leave the page....if they are have it reload as top.location but a different page with a script that prevents the back button from being used so the surfer doesnt go back to the jackass burning your BW to advertise other shit

Adent007 05-31-2004 05:34 PM

if your going to drop him i'd send an email first saying what he's doing isnt allowed and ask him to stop......if he doesnt then kick his ass out

Jake 05-31-2004 07:31 PM

I'm hoping to get a little more input from other program owners here?

Rictor 05-31-2004 11:18 PM

If you don't like it, ask him to stop. If he ignores you, don't pay him.

Bigjohn 05-31-2004 11:21 PM

Cheaters should be cancelled. If he won't quit using your gallery, fix you .htaccess in your hosted gallery directory to ban him.

Seriously I would take it on a case-by-case basis, but as a general rule of thumb I would not allow it.
