Touching on something KRL posted yesterday...
 

I would bump it or link to it but the fucking search is down so here it goes.

It's about doing biz on this board and your behavior as a representative of you and your business.

I've been posting on this board since 2001, July will be 3 years.

In the beginning I came on this board looking to mingle, do biz but soon I got caught up in the shit flinging, the pissing matches etc.

I made some friends, but also made some unnecessary enemies.

I did't take a lot of what I said seriously, some people took it a bit too serious...why hell the motto has always been..."It's GFY what do you expect?"

Anyway, I focused on myself, made some changes toned it down on the boards tried to stay away from political debates that served no purpose other than to create animosity...I avoided drama and pissing matches..and guess what happened?

Doors opened. People took time to find out who I really was and what I had to offer this industry and vice versa.

Did I change who I really am? Hell no...I still speak my mind if it's necessary and warranted and I stand up for what I think is right.

However I have learned to pick and choose my battles.

KRL brought up some valid points. It's not that you should be kissing some of the bigger webmasters asses...but there's no reason to go around and start pissing with them it will serve no purpose other than to slow your growth in this biz.

soo true, when i read drama threads i usually dont take sides, but i look at the 2 posters and i think that they are only tarnishing their names. unless they have legitimate proof, of course

Hey all I'm saying is life is really really short. I wake up sometimes, look in the mirror and just say holy fuck I'm going to be labeled a senior citizen in 9 more years, how did my youth go by so fast? It really solidifies the perspective that every minute counts and those minutes should be made as productive as possible.

Hell yeh, fun is fun too, so is horsing around, getting into verbal skirmishes just for the drama of it and all the other craziness that goes on in here.

But at the same time some people take things way too seriously and you develop some real evil like hostilities. That's not what life was made for. We have to watch it on the TV all day and night, it shouldn't be brought in here like that if we can avoid it as much as possible. Where genuine hate and bitterness evolves between people past the joking around levels. Where you're insulting people intensely and meaning it.

You guys are so lucky to be young. I would give anything to be just starting out again in my 20's and having the Net as a tool for business. When I was your age we didn't even have PC's yet for christ's sakes. Our coolest game was fucking Pong and we thought that was impressive technology at the time.

So it kills me to see so many people go at each other when we could be having fun and helping strategize together, develop new ideas, defend the industry from the conservatives that want to destroy it, making our businesses grow through alliances, etc.

Positive energy is so fucking great. There's nothing like it. Negative energy is just plain awful. I hate seeing it and I hate feeling it on myself like anyone. So the point of my post was just too chill out when things get intense, think about the words you post before you hit submit. Some people do have a genuine weight problem, myself included, and nobody likes being made fun of and insulted when its for real and not just kidding around.

Hey KRL if you have that thread bookmarked please bump it...it had some good points I wanted to touch on but was out for most of the day.

I've toned it down quite a bit as well. Not EXACTLY sure why, but I think being too busy for silly little arguments is one of them.

I always bookmark KRL threads.
