was staring up at the moon tonight ...

it was about 6pm or so and still daylight, but the moon was absolutely incredible.

I notice many dark shaded areas which on earth would be water, but i know there isnt water on the moon.

So what are those spots?

Im sure i should have learned this in 4th grade science, but i think i was absent that day ....

yeah, i would think they are craters too...
Hubby loves astronomy...sometimes we lay outside at night...or float in the pool and just gaze up at the stars. I honestly believe we should all take more time to do that.

mostly they're craters created by meteors crashing into the surface... the moon doesn't have an atmosphere to break up debris that is flying through space.

Earth would look like that too if our atmosphere didn't burn up most of the meteors that pass through it.

thanks.. yeah. I was out shooting various stuff and my little brother says "hey, take a picture of the moon" and I just sorta rolled my eyes at him.... thinking, there's no way a picture of the moon way up there will look any good.

But now, I'm glad he insisted :)

Heh, just saw that... my 7k post. woop for me :glugglug
