Sometimes (actually a lot lately) i make simple galleries like this and came to the conclusion that:

1 Surfers hardly read any text on a gallery.
2 If they like the girl then the rest doesnt really matter (on the gallery page i mean, not the paysite)

Surfers are stupid but not totally stupid. If they simply like the girl (tiffany in this case) they will click the link. 1 + 1 is 2. I really doubt that the surfer is like "hmm do i like her yes or no, let me take 2 mins to read everything on the gallery page to decide if im gonna click or not)

Surfers cant be bothered reading long shit. They click 20 galleries in 3 mins and if they see something interesting on a certain gallery they click the first link they can find on the page.

Now the gallery used in the sleazydream testing looks ok. Nice gallery but the test showed the ctr was pretty poor. I personally think if that same gallery was made with 2 links and no other bs the ctr wouldve been (way) better. For some reason i think all the text and stuff going on actually might turn some surfers off. They might get the feeling they are pushed too much, its too screaming, it looks like one big ad, like the viagra shit i get in my spam folder.

Now i might be wrong, im not a tgp guru altho i have to say i know my galleries do convert well.

So i wonder what you guys opinion is on this. Lately ive noticed that it seems that designers are more worried about all the text and links and colors and how nice it looks instead of the actual gallery + content. I think 16 pics, a logo and 2 simple text links works perfectly fine. The sad thing is, i also tend to make them look very nice because otherwise tgp owners will reject me while this is quite useless if you ask me.

Its been a while since I have submitted anything. But for me simple designs used to outsell the flashy shit. Content has always been the "X factor" for me............

When I submitted galleries (2 years ago) and made the design simple with just 2 links it was horrible. But that could be different these days, dunno, didn't submit for a long time!

But why not telling the surfer what they will get ?
1$/month or trial maybe attract them more?
Maybe otherwise they just freeload your content and go to the next.

Damn, when you really think about it you will say, it can be so or so! Some signup fast others you have to show what they will get................. :2 cents:

Dont you think this had to do with the content then? If the surfer really liked the pics you think they wouldnt click it because its only 2 lousy text links?

Imo if the surfer likes the pics you can have a text link saying "xxxxxxxxx" and they will click it as its the only way they will see more of the girl. Now this example is a bit extreme but think of the bigger picture.

I did a fairly plan gallery with little to no text made a couple sales, and then when I got new content of the same girl I changed the text to show the price and made 0 sales on a $8 trial. Small case with hardly any traffic, but I'm going to stay away from showing the price for a little while.

my best selling galleries are VERY simple, but use text - not tons of it, but i have found a few brief sentences that are specific either to the site or niche doubles my sales.

i never did well using the price on my galleries, but i know people who use prices and make bank.

people go to sites to jack off, not to read shit.

Not to bash on NC's version, but I put the text in a form field for this reason.

It gave the surfer the opportunity to read it if they chose to or to gloss over it, but it wasn't obtrusive.

I also sized the text up top and the text in the middle so that way both the top link and the middle link would show in the browser at a higher setting than 800x600. edited to add* with a hint of more pics to follow*

When the text was taken out of the form field, and text added in the middle link it affected the layout I had designed for.

Also to say that the gallery didn't get that great a ctr% even NoCarrier said it should actually be much higher because he's not accounting for the traffic that's getting sent to the dialer.


Now for you to say text is unimportant that's debateable...you'll have positive experiences as well as negative experiences on both sides of the debate.
